Science 1st Subject Matter: Amphibians Lesson Content Description: Students will be read a book about amphibians. T. will then complete a circle map with words describing amphibians. T. will complete a step by step drawing and answering questions.
Instructional Strategies/Method of Delivery:
Reading a book as a class. Completing a circle map as a class. Drawing an animal and answering appropriate corresponding questions. California State Standard: a.Students know different plants and animals inhabit different kinds of environ ments and have external features that help them thrive in different kinds of places. ELD Standard: ELD Standard: 5. Listening actively Demonstrate active listening to read- alouds and oral presentations by asking and answering yes-no and wh- questions with oral sentence frames and substantial prompting and support. Common Core Lesson Objective: Students will be able to effectively describe amphibians in depth and answer questions about amphibians. Assessment: Formative:Formative: T. will assess students understanding based on their circle map contributions. Summative:T. will assess students answers to questions. Lesson/Assessment Modifications: ELL: Special Needs EL- Student can refer to the book for help with vocabulary. Speech- Student will be provided with additional time to answer questions. Technology: Describe the types of technology you will be utilizing in your lesson to create and enhance instruction T. will use document projector to model how to complete activities and the correct spelling.

T. will explain that we will be learning about amphibians. T. will gather students on the carpet to read a nonfiction book about amphibians. T. will pause throughout to discuss the reading and check for understanding.
