This Indenture made the [blank] day of [blank] one thousand eight hundred and thirty two George M
Shaw Fracis Shaw wife of the sd G. M. Shaw of the one part and William Nichols Jesse Decker Philip
Bigler and Elisha Glazier of other part Witnesseth whereas the said William Nichols Jesse Decker Philip
Bigler and Elisha Glazier have endorsed of and under written for the sd G. M. Shaw notes made payable
at the “Bank of Michigan” to the amount of two thousand Dollars which the said Nichols Decker
Bigler and Glazier are held and bound to pay as endorsers and underwriters of George M. Shaw
aforesaid now this Indenture witnesseth that the security of the said Nichols, Decker Bigler and Glazier
made holder as aforesaid for the payment of two thousand dollars to the “Bank of Michigan” against all
harm Damages or loss by reason of their liability as aforesaid also in the consideration of the sum of five
Dollars to me the said George M. Shaw in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged at and
before [en]sealing and delivery of these presents I the said George M Shaw and Frances Shaw do grant
bargain sell convey and confirm unto the said William Nichols Jesse Decker Philip Bigler and Elisha
Glazier and to their heirs forever the several certain pieces or parcels of Land lying and being in the
village of Rochester in the County of Oakland and Territory or Michigan [?] Out Lots Number three,
Four, and Seven and village Lots Numbered Forty-two Forty-four Forty five and Twenty Eight in
the village of Rochester aforesaid in the description reference being had to the survey of said village as
recorded in the Registers office in the County aforesaid Also a piece of Land adjoining the village of
Rochester described as follows beginning on the South line of the Rowland Lot so called and
running south [on the?] East line of the village Lots in the village of Rochester one hundred and
Eighty feet Thence East thirteen rods Thence North parallel to the East line of the village Lots
aforesaid to the South line Rowland Lot thence West to the place of beginning reference being
being [sic] had to a deed of the premises last [?] and being the same lot of Land therein mentioned from
Jeremiah W Riggs Samuel Richardson and Hosea Richardson to me the said George M Shaw Together
with all and singular the rights and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining with
the issues and profits thereof To have and To hold the said several Lots of Land unto the said William
Nichols Jesse Decker Philip Bigler and Elisha Glazier their heirs and and [sic] assigns forever Provided
always and it is the true mea[n]ing and intent of these presents that if said George M Shaw shall well and
truly pay or cause to be paid the said sum of two thousand Dollars to the Bank of Michigan according to
the tenor of the note or notes by [wh]ich the sd Nichols, Decker, Bigler and Glazier have been made liable
to pay the same and save them from all the damage or cost by said notes so endorsed or underwritten
[by?] said Nichols Decker Bigler and Glazier or any [?] by them as security aforesaid then and from
thence forth these presents shall be utterly null and void anything herein to the contrary notwithstanding
and it is covenanted and agreed upon by and between the parties to these presents that until [de]fault
shall be made in the conditions set forth other presents it shall and may be lawful for the sd George M
Shaw peaceably and quietly to hold use and recoup and enjoy all and singular the premises above
granted and [?] [part?] thereof to his own particular use, and Behoof any thing herein to the contrary
notwithstanding

County of Oakland } Personally came before me one of the Justices of the Peace for said
Territory of Michigan } ss County Geo M. Shaw who acknowledged he had freely and voluntarily
signed sealed and Delivered the within Deed of Mortgage for the purposes therein set forth Also Frances
Shaw wife of the said Geo M who being examined separate and apart from her her [sic] husband
acknowledged she had freely signed and sealed the within deed of Mortgage in testimony of her entire
relinquishment of Dower to the within described premises and without any fear or compulsion of her said
husband Done by me and to which I certify under my hand this 12th day of September 1832
