Case 13.2
Objective: to find out whether there exist difference in sales wrt to packaging
To find out diff in sales wrt to type of stores
Hypothesis : h0 : there is no difference in sales across packaging
H1: there exist a diff in sales across packaging
H0: u1=u2=u3
H1 u1=! U2 =! = u3 atleast one of them differs
Since categorical var has more than 2 levels we use ANOVA technique
Deg of freedom
Df1: k-1
3-1 = 2
Df2 n-k = 30-3 = 27
F critical : using function FINVERSE(alpha, df1, df2)
= 3.35
The diff in sales has come because of within the grp variation and between the
grp.
Sum of sqrs betwn grps is computed as SSB 3808
Sum of sqrs within gr is 3140 SSE
Mean sum of sqrs between grp = MSB = SSB/df1
3808/2= 1904
MSE mean sum of sqrs SSE/d2
3120/27 = 116
Since we are comparing variances of the 2 grps we use f stats
Fcal = MSB/MSE
1904/116 = 16.37
Fcal > F crit
Reject the null hypothesis

At all selected level of alpha 1 % 5 % and 10 % we reject null hypo of equal sales
across packaging.
Tests of Between-Subjects Effects

2 way anova
Steps to follow
Analyseglmunivariate
Dependant var is scaled variable or numeric variable
Fixed factors are nothing but independent variables
First factor can be called as main variable second can be called as blocking
variable, we write the hypothesis for 2 way anova as follows
Hypo 1
H0 there is no difference in sales wrt to packaging
H1 there is a diff in sales wrt to packaging
Hypo 2
H0 there is no diff in sales wrt store size
H1 there is diff in sales wrt to store type
Hypo 3
H0 there is no interaction effect
H1 there is interaction effect
The obs level of sig p values for the first hypothesis is found as 0.000 so we
reject null hypo
For hypo 2 the obs level of sig is found out as 0.67, we fail to reject null hypo
For hypo 3 , p value is 0.9 , we fail to reject null hypo.

comfort,
Car type and education on styling
Car type and education on being well respected.
