help.
Software Installation
System Image
A System Image corresponds to the operating system and embedded software
components required by the MaxTester CQ-DSL unit. System Image also contains
the basic application software required to update your unit and make it work.
A System Image contains the following files:
SystemImage.inf
Kernel.bex
Boot.bex
Splash.bex
App.cex
To install new software on the MaxTester CQ-DSL using a USB key:
1. Ensure the unit battery is fully charged.
2. Copy the System Image files to the \SoftwareUpdate folder on your USB key.
3. Insert the USB key in the unit.
4. Shut down the unit. When both LEDs are off, the shutdown is complete.
IMPORTANT
The DC plug must be disconnected, since it will prevent the unit
from shutting down.
5. Restart your unit with the USB key connected. The unit will indicate Checking
for System Image.
6. When the End User License Agreement (EULA) is displayed, accept it. The
installation will then proceed. It will require a few reboots of the unit and may
take up to 5 minutes.
7. Once installation is complete, you can remove your USB key from the unit.
To upgrade your system without using a USB key:
1. If you do not have a USB key for the upgrade operations, copy the files to your
unit under the folder \Data\My Documents\SoftwareUpdate.
2. Use an ActiveSync connection to transfer your files to this folder.
3. If doing recovery, you can also copy the recovery files to this folder instead of
using a USB key.
At this time, you can only replace the entire System Image and not just the
MaxTester CQ-DSL software.

There may be a couple of reasons why you might encounter an error when
activating a software option:
The software key provided may be for another unit. Check the MaxTester unit
serial number and ensure the key provided corresponds to the unit.
Your software may not be up-to-date and may not support this option. Make
