DIVISION 3: DETAILED LIST OF DELIVERABLES

A. Construction Logistics and Site Plan

You shall submit a fully detailed and carefully considered site logistics proposal identifying, but not limited to, storage areas,
access area, traffic management solutions which shall remain in force for the duration of the project. The proposed site
logistics plan is to be submitted indicating the relationship of the site provisions to the permanent works. The drawings haveto
be to scale and show correct relative size. Start from a Google maps image and develop your drawings accordingly.
Show on the site plan:
a. Material Flows entry + store Long-Term + store Short-Term + store Active + move + operate + waste exit
b. People Flows entry/exit + work + Utility + Administration
c. Site Lighting, Excavation quantity storing calculation, storage capacity calculation, power requirements calculations
d. Proximity and intersection measures calculations
e. Site facilities location, staging areas - active storage how to move material and access (masonry, mortar, tiles), Steel
+ formwork (workshops + crane movement), prefabricated delivery
f. Tower Crane location, Lifting capacity, Installation- disassembly sequence, Disassembly plan, cross section drawings
g. Mobile cranes path, radius, Cross section drawing, Cross drawing for forklift, etc
h. Concrete pumps pumping plan, Placing boom or static pump
i. Macro scale access, Access around the site by type of staff, material (visitors, batch plant, prefab), equipment,
Numbering of entrances, Table to designate who uses the entrance (primary, secondary, not allowed), Movement by
types (one-way, two way, turning radii, speed limits), Signage, Vehicular, Pedestrian
j. Safety, Emergency egress, Assembly point, Fire hydrants + sand buckets, Smoking areas and first kits and boxes

N.B. When drawing the site organization plan, use the Symbols and provide a key

So the deliverables are

1. A review (1 to 2 pages) of any site logistic requirements in the contract or specs, especially section 01 50 00 (01500)
Temporary Facilities assignment (if available)
2. Equipment, data brochures and summary of major equipment (but as a minimum: concrete pumps, mobile and tower cranes).
This is related to item D below (i.e. do not duplicate)
3. Site organization plan to an appropriate scale with blow-up details of critical areas (show all items above)
4. A narrative with any calculations for lighting, material storage, power requirements, etc

B. General execution plan

Show the approach to be followed in the execution of project: the overall sequence of work and determinewhich construction methods
should be used in the execution of planned activities. This general execution plan should be demonstrated with illustrations using the
massing model of the building LOD 100. This general execution plan should be developed in a form of a summary schedule level, i.e. a
bar chart showing the execution plan in the form of a preliminary schedule without details. The generic schedule should be tied with the
BIM LOD 100 model using Navisworks (i.e. Just the main blocks and masses of your building). So you need to submit:

1. 1 page max written summary of your general execution plan

2. A BIM LOD 100 of your model showing floor plates, the areas, main costs breakdown by area, zones of your building
3. A Summary activity-on-arrow schedule of your project
4. A Naviswork animation of your general execution plan

C. Method Statement (and alternatives if any)

You need to select three different operations and developdetailed steps of the construction method studied.Developdetailed description
of selected construction methods, elaborating on the selection criteria, QA/AC measures, safety measures and other factors inherent in
the execution process, such as foreseen risks.

1. First, for each distinct operation, you need to develop a written method statement detailing the operation step by
step. A Method Statement is a document detailing how a particular task or activity will be carried out. Prepareit for
the application, dont copy it from somewhere else. Talk to the right people as soon as you can. Use accurate and
informative illustrations, photographs, drawings, maps and plans. Do not use material from the internet, rather
develop your own sketches.Refer to the drawing developed in the project information section above as much
as possible when describing the method statement and including sketches of the construction sequences
as it applies to your project. You can refer to the BIM you developed when you are explaining the method
statements.
A method statement will vary from scheme to scheme, and from site to site. The method statement may include:
1. A description of the activity.
2. A description of how the work will be managed.
3. The location of the activity, its boundaries, means of access and how it is segregated from other activities.
4. The procedure for changing the proposed method of work if necessary.
5. A step by step description of the activities to be undertaken.
6. Safety aspects: Precautions necessary to protect workers, and other people that could be affected, including
PPEs, and the need for specially-trained operators for certain activities. Emergency procedures, including
the location of emergency equipment.
7. The handling and storage of materials and pollution prevention procedures.
8. Temporary works designs and the method for safeguarding existing structures if any.

Bad Example of a portion of a method statement: Concrete will be poured next..

Good Example: 200 cubic meters of concrete will be poured per day which will cover half of the floor area as indicated in the attached
drawing. The concrete pump used is a Schwinn 52 and will be located as indicated in the site plan

Bad Example of a portion of a method statement: The Transoms will be installed..

Good Example: The transoms will be installed using scaffolding and..as indicated in the attached sketch and in the order shown in
the sketchThe transoms for the front faade of the building will be installed in xx days.

2. Second you need to develop a flowchart, summarizing the steps of the construction method. A process Flowchart
showing the processes carried out and resources needed. The maximum resolution of the process chart should be
around 8 hours increments, i.e. do not show an activity that would take 3 days, instead break it down into tasks with
smaller notation. If the activity is repetitive indicate that it will be repeated for so many times.Bonus: You can if you
like use any formal process modeling technique (e.g. anylogic discrete event, Activity cycle diagrams, or Business
Process Modeling1)

1
Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) https://camunda.org/bpmn/tutorial/
3. A Preliminary Bar chart schedule of the activity at the appropriate level of detail.
4. Types of Labor: A list showing an explanation and a distinction between skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled labor
required for different tasks in the construction procedure.
5. Plant and equipment required (only mention the plant and equipment here as this is detailed in the following
section)
6. Bonus: If there are alternate ways of doing the same operation, you can mention it here.

So your deliverables will be:

Three methods statements with sketches, Flowcharts and types of labor and equipment required and bar chart schedule
showing the operations you selected. You can use as many pages as needed but only include original material, i.e. limit the
amount of pictures and diagrams that are not yours. If you need to show an equipment try to use a picture that is yours for
example.

DO NOT WRITE DOWN GENERIC STEPS BUT BE SPECIFIC TO YOUR PARTICULAR PROJECT
BY REFERENCING AND SHOWING PROJECT DRAWINGS OF BIM MODELS
D. Specifications Analysis

Specifications, an integral component of construction documentation, outline the levels of quality and the standards to be met
in construction of a project. Written specifications were first produced separately from drawings to cut down on the clutter
caused by lengthy descriptions. In addition, placing descriptions together in one place avoided the contradictions and errors
often caused when specifications are repeated in many places.

1. For each of the methods statements above, select one of the materials used for it and find the relevant specification for
it in your project data. If you project is using MasterFormat, you will need to get the relevant CSI spec for the material
used on the site and select one section of the CSI specs.
2. For that specification section you need to find a list of all the drawings that this specification is linked to. In addition you
need to mark on one or more of the drawings the location of the item defined in the specification
3. List the other sections that this item is linked to
4. For that section you need to provide a one page summary of the critical items in the specification section you found.
Provide any items that may affect the cost and or time as well as quality and safety requirements
5. Research a local supplier for that item if possible and get up to date prices
6. Bonus. If there are any alternative materials that can be specified, then suggest such items and perform a weighted
analysis for the alternative using any technique e.g. the one defined in: ASTM E1765, Analytical Hierarchy Process: Standard
Practice for Performing MultiAttribute Decision Analysis in the Evaluation of Buildings and Building Systems.

So your deliverables will be:

For each item one or two pages listing the items defined above
E. Equipment Selection:

Selection, sizing and matching of the construction equipment required for major construction activities.

1. A list of major equipment to be used in the project (definition of major is any equipment whose value is in excess of 100,000
LE). For each equipment it is preferred that you provide pictures you actually took for the equipment (from actual sites) and
the technical data (brochure/catalog) of the equipment. You need to extract the appropriate technical information from the
equipment catalog (dimensions, capacities, production rates, power etc) and summarize.

2. Use the information collected above in calculating the production rates of ONE activity related to the equipment (e.g. piling,
excavation, pumping, crane duty cycles, etc). You need to calculate production rates for the selected equipment, but be
specific to your own project, i.e. for pumping concrete you need to assess the height and rate of pour based on your own
project and similarly for earthmoving or piling operations

3. For the operation selected above indicate the drawings that shows where and what this equipment will be used for on the
drawing and the stages of completion if any.

4. Bonus, you can compare more than one equipment and then perform a selection of the appropriate construction equipment.

N.B. Equipment Selection with examples of real life pictures/videos of the equipment has be used
