The ARC system comprises three
parts: a measurement microphone,
room measurement software, and a
plug-in for use with sequencers (see
Figure 9). The 1/4-in. condenser
microphone is transformlerless and
electronically balanced. It has an
omnidirectional polar pattern and
provides a frequency response of 16
Hz20 kHz (1.5 dB). The maximum
SPL is 130 db with 3 percent THD.
The measurement software features a
wizard to guide the user through the
microphone setup and measurement
of the room. Multiple points can be
measured so that a representation of
all the problems in the space can be
addressed. A correction calculation
that will solve the issues in all
locations at the same time is then
calculated.
The results of the acoustic mea-

are saved in a file for use with the
correction plug-in. This plug-in is
available in VST, RTAS, and AU

A MIDI keyboard can also be used
to create a node with state informa-

under the current mouse position.
The time it takes for a player to move
between nodes is proportional to the
length of the edge between them. The
two-dimensional grid is arranged
horizontally and vertically into what
the developers call principles and
divisions. The principles represent
the beat structure and tempo of the
piece of music, and the divisions can
be used to apply metrical stresses and
time signatures to the basic beats.
Nodes and edges can also handle lists
of state-modifying information so
that sequences of notes, harmonies,
and other musical structures can be
implemented.
There are three different modes by
