DEM0005508: IB to support Intranet installation in

Windows and Linux environments - NSN IB US 19

Windows User Guide


1. Pre-requisites for running IB as Service
JDK 1.7 or above should be installed for IB to run as service. Please download it
from below link:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html

2. Install Information Browser Service


installation exe.

Uninstall the information browser standalone application (if installed before).


Install Information Browser Service installation exe.

3. Information Browser will install the service.


Once IB is installed, IB will start the application for the first time, default browser
window will be opened.
Please close the command prompt window once the tomcat server is started with the
message as below to continue the installation procedure:
Information Browser service will be installed automatically by the installer.

4. Checking if service is installed.


Go to Start and type services as shown in following screen shot:

You will see status of Information Browser service is present as shown in following
screen shot.
Service will not get started automatically. We need to Start it manually from Start
Menu (Step 5).

5. Starting Service
To start the service Open the command prompt from menu by using Run as an
administrator way. Navigate into <information browser installation folder>\yajsw\bat
and run startService.bat.
Or
Start the information browser service using Start Menu.
Start Menu -> Nokia Solutions and Networks Information Browser -> Information
Browser Service Start

Information Browser application will also be started automatically. Open the URL of
the information browser in the browser:
http://localhost:8787/informationbrowser/index.jsp (where 8787 is the port on which
IB is running on this machine. It is specified at the time of installation and will be
present in port.txt in <IB installation folder> \Server \work \Catalina
\localhost\informationbrowser\eclipse\plugins\customization).
IB service will be started automatically when windows is started.
6. Stopping Service
- To start the service Open the command prompt from menu by using Run as an
administrator way. Navigate into <information browser installation folder>\yajsw\bat and run
stopService.bat

Or

Stop the information browser service using Start Menu.

Start Menu -> Nokia Solutions and Networks Information Browser -> Information Browser

7. Testing IB service from remote machine


Once service started and one or many libraries installed, try to access from remote
PC with active user session on. When this works, log off the active user session and
repeat.
For testing purpose you require IP address of your machine so got to command
prompt and type following command as shown in screen shot:

Make note of IP address. In this case IP address of this machine is 172.16.34.68.


The link for testing will be http://172.16.34.68:8787/informationbrowser/index.jsp
(where 8787 is the port on which IB is running on this machine. It is specified at the
time of installation and will be present in port.txt in <IB installation folder> \Server
\work \Catalina \localhost\informationbrowser\eclipse\plugins\customization).
All the latest libraries uploaded on the host system will be available via above link to
all the users irrespective of any user login into the system.

8. Installing and Managing Documents in IB


Service
Document installation will be done using direct access to the machine and
information browser should be running as process, not as service. Follow below
steps to install documents:

a. Stop IB Service ( refer Step 5: Stopping a Service ) : Navigate into <information


browser installation folder>\yajsw\bat and run stopService.bat from command prompt.

b. Start Information Browser process: Navigate to Start Menu -> Nokia Solutions and
Networks Information Browser -> Information Browser Process Start.

c. Install documents: Use link http://localhost:<port no> /informationbrowser/


index.jsp and click on Manage. Install documents and click on Apply and Close if there
are no more documents to be installed.

d. Stop Information Browser process: Navigate to Start Menu -> Nokia Solutions and
Networks Information Browser -> Information Browser Process Stop.

e. Once service is stopped, Start IB service (refer 4: Starting a Service): Navigate


into <information browser installation folder>\yajsw\bat and run startService.bat.

This step needs to be followed every time any document needs to be installed.

9. Un-installing of Service
To start the service Open the command prompt from menu by using Run as an
administrator way. Navigate into <information browser installation folder>\yajsw\bat
and run uninstallService.bat
To uninstall Information Browser applications, please use Windows Control Panel.
