PLATFORM:
The Union of Students for the Advancement of Democracy (USAD) envisions a
student government that recognizes the structural and political roots of inequalities and
promotes, therefore, structural and political responses. We believe that in order to genuinely
address the needs of the Sanggunians constituents and to effectively respond to national
issues, it is necessary to take a long-term view, both in aim and praxis, in light of these
pressing concerns. Our Party thus runs in this elections prepared to take action with our
platform Forward Together.
In moving forward, we work together towards a Sanggunian that is powered by
students, adopts activism in strategy, and espouses a progressive worldview. The Presidents
role is crucial in this endeavor as the President is mandated by the Constitution to act as the
official representative of the student body.
As President, I shall create the Student Rights and Welfare Department which
shall serve the following functions:
o Train Sanggunian officers on student rights and welfare (STRAW)
o Institutionalize student-centered mental health care and services
o Promote and reinforce available mental health services within the
University
o Conduct mental health awareness talks and workshops to professors
and administrators
In committing to keep the interests of the student body at heart by advancing students
rights and welfare, I shall focus my efforts in ensuring and forwarding student representation
within committees in the LS schools as stipulated in the Magna Carta. This effort has shall
concretized in lobbying for student regency in decision-making bodies (such as the Board of
Trustees) in the University.
In bridging campus politics in the broader national context, I want to be able to
create and organize working groups for sociopolitical involvement. These working groups
will come from each school in the LS. The goal of each working group is to link the
sociopolitical issue into an output that is related to their course/school. In order to do this, the
working group must undergo an immersion. The working group will be open to all. Another
effort I would like to start is to incentivize multisectoral fora and similar activities and forge
partnerships and dialogues with external organizations for possible points of action. In line
with this, I want to coordinate with the current Task Forces, while the creation of other task
forces for issue-based campaigns.
In advancing labor rights and welfare in campus, I want to Open spaces for
dialogue among the Sanggunian and the Ateneo Employees and Workers Union (AEWU),
faculty association, and outsourced employees.

PLATFORM:
Were a better, stronger, more vigorous Ateneo when we harness the talent, hard work and
ingenuity of every single Atenean. As Ateneans, we face real challenges inside and outside
the Ateneo. In order for us to effectively meet these challenges we have to combine our
resources in competencies, skills and lend these to further better and strengthen the university
and the nation. It is time for the School of Humanities Sanggunian to open itself up to the
other three Loyola Schools namely SOSS, SOM and SOSE. The humanities exist beyond the
School of Humanities as it goes hand in hand with the social sciences, science and
engineering and management.

It is time for the Loyola Schools to pull together, work together and ultimately rise
together. To do this, we plan to achieve the following:

1. A Student Powered Sanggunian. The School of Humanities Sanggunian will provide

every Atenean the opportunity and resources to truly realize and maximize his or her
potential as an Atenean to ultimately contribute and participate in community development.
To do this, the School of Humanities Sanggunian must:

a. Increase the speed of program and policy development process and the quality of our
output. Programs and policies are geared towards helping the student body maximize
their competencies and skills towards community development and nation building.
In order to facilitate the acceleration of program and policy development process and
the quality of these programs and policies:
o Course representatives will undergo a comprehensive training and
development to equip them with the competencies needed to produce quality
programs and policies for the student body.
o We must generate and execute programs and policies that match the needs of
then students. We will use the resources of the Sanggunian to conduct
informal and formal consultations, small group discussions, and commission
research to better understand the constituency.
o We shall open the Sanggunian processes to the student body. The student
body is no longer just beneficiaries of our services but partners for
development. We will be working with the constituency to develop programs
and policies that are beneficial for them and the student body at large.

b. Fight to tear down obstacles that hold Ateneans back and build ladders of
opportunities for all Ateneans. In order for the School of Humanities Sanggunian to assist
the students in pursuing their passions, the following will be pursued:
A comprehensive review of the current services being offered by the Sanggunian and
the service delivery operation. Necessary reform in the operations and the expansion
of services will be initiated if the review reveals it is needed.
Necessary changes in the applications for the SSS will be made in order to make it
easier for students to apply and benefit from the program. The coverage of the SSS
will also be expanded to incentivize more theses, researches and projects.
Expand Emerging and Recognized Organizational Assistance. We will continue
providing assistance to further empower these organizations. We will also open
communication pathways in order for us to know what support they might need from
the institution. We will use our representative powers to lobby their concerns as
organizations to the ADMU administration
We will push for a Student Rights and Welfare Committee tasked to advance and
formulate policy for the protection of Students Rights and Welfare in the University.

c. Innovation. We shall tap into the ingenuity of the students in order to facilitate innovation.
The humanities is not limited to just the arts and literature, it is present in science and
technology, entrepreneurship and the social sciences. Given this, we plan to do the following:
SOH Think Tank. We will establish a Think Tank tasked to catalyze the creation and
implementation of innovative approaches for solving problems. The goal is to deliver
innovative, and practical solutions to the problems we face through the combined
skills of the humanities, science and engineering, social sciences and management.
Connect. The School of Humanities is brimming with ideas geared towards
community development. We will connect SOH students who are pursuing innovative
researches, ideas and ventures to incubators and accelerators to help them get their
ventures off the ground. We will offer these students a workspace, network of
mentors, access to investors and other services.
Reward Innovation. Creators and innovators who decide to launch their venture that
operate in vulnerable communities and provide measurable social impact and benefit
shall be rewarded.

2. Establish and Fortify Relations

A. Externalize. We must work on a bilateral and multilateral basis with our partners from
inside and outside the university. We must strengthen our alliances with emerging and
recognized organizations in fighting for right. Outside the university, we must lead the fight.
We must deepen our cooperation with other student governments and student organizations to
take on the biggest challenges we face as students, as Filipinos. To do this, the School of
Humanities Sanggunian will:
Establish a Humanities Student Alliance. The Humanities Student Alliance shall be
formed constituting of art and humanities student governments and organizations
from various universities. This alliance will champion the humanities and engage the
humanities community in discourse on socio-political and cultural issues. Aside from
that, this alliance shall mobilize the sector to engage and respond to the signs of the
times, forward policies and programs and work towards the development of the
nation.
Open the School of Humanities Sanggunian to partnerships with different sectors such
as science and technology, business, development, social sciences to catalyze the
innovation.
Fortify relations with humanities based organizations inside Ateneo in order to
respond effectively to the challenges we face as individuals or as organizations. We
will harness the arts and humanities and work in partnership to make effective and
lasting change.

B. Galvanize Communities
We need to connect like-minded individuals, people with similar passion points. The School
of Humanities Sanggunian will find where they are and galvanize these people, cultivate
these communities and empower them with resources.

C. Integration
The School of Humanities Sanggunian will be integrating the SOH organizations and home
departments to the school assembly, thus turning these three sectors into one triumvirate.

I work efficiently alone but would rather work in a group. I am

disciplined and can effectively weigh things and situations. I
am well-versed in practical computer skills using Advanced
Excel, VBA, MegaStat, and SPSS. I am fluent in both Filipino
and English.

Interests:
I enjoy reading self-help and fiction books, listening to a
variety of music genres, playing computer games, and watching
movies and series. I am also interested in ideas that try to marry
the concepts of good business and social development
PLATFORM:
Representation matters. The Ateneo School of Management is currently under-
represented and under-utilized because of the lack of a School Representative. As a result, the
students of SOM are losing on possible opportunities for personal growth and development.
The students also have a reduced capacity to lobby school specific concerns to offices within
the university. This coming year, lets solve that.

Governance
The SOM Sanggunian should invest in the Atenean. The Atenean community is rich
with ideas and advocacies, and it needs to be realized and enabled. I envision a new SOM
Sanggunian as the Establishment of a New Market Ecosystem, wherein the students that
come from different contexts and fields of management can co-exist and puts a premium on
interdisciplinary engagement.
1. As a government, the Sanggunians task is not to impose its absolute will upon the
student body and demand support; rather it should seek to realize and engage ideas
from the constituents and make sure that these ideas materialize. This would involve a
bottom-up approach to idea generation where the student body would drive the
Sanggunian.
2. The creation of a SOM Shark Tank to stimulate idea generation within the student
body and organize these into tangible projects. Instead of an exclusive think tank that
limits brainstorming to a certain group of people, ideas should come from the student
body and it would be the job of this body to ensure that ideas flow within the
community and that these ideas are attended to.
3. The expansion of the current Sanggunian Subsidy System to fund personal
advocacies that seek to engage in nation-building through projects, student-led
initiatives, passion projects, and social enterprise.
4. The Sanggunian will continue to ensure transparency regarding all updates,
decisions, and agendas undertaken by the student government. Similarly, the student
government will actively seek out concerns to get a feel on the pulse of the students.
5. The Sanggunian will also cultivate our homegrown business practices such as
JSEC stalls, Gonzaga stores and other aspiring startups by providing SSS subsidies,
ensuring ease of business within the Loyola Schools, and grants and subsidies

The SOM Sanggunian should build bridges to where SOM wants to be.
Opportunities for personal development and societal development are abundant; the Atenean
should not be caged within the four walls of the campus.

1. The creation of an Office of Consultancy, a specialized body that aims to enable

service and to pursue advocacies through an interdisciplinary approach to
problem solving by opening up to outside institutions and communities that need
these services. This effort would be done in coordination with other organizations
whose specialty lies in consultancy, ideation, and competence development.
2. Establish networks with the Ateneo Alumni Association to create relationships
between the current student body and the alumni that can lead to mentorships,
further job opportunities, and valuable advice and insights regarding advocacies.
3. Open up more roads to relations between the School of Management with
outside institutions and corporations by marketing the SOM as a premier hub of
management students that is geared for excellence. This will lead to even more career-
oriented opportunities in building up the student body of SOM.
4. SOM Sanggunian was a part of the Alliance of Business Councils (ABC), a
council of the school of businesses of Ateneo, La Salle and UP wherein
representatives collaborate in a joint effort. This government will seek to re-establish
itself within the said council to widen perspectives and to share ideas that create value
for its students.
All roads lead to SOM. The Sanggunian is a democratic government wherein the
mandate of each representative is given by its constituents: the LS student body. Therefore, it
is only right that service should be focused towards its constituents. All the efforts, both
internal and external, that will be given by the SOM Sanggunian will ultimately be towards
the development of each and every single member of its constituency to realize and achieve
their truest potential.
Administrative
From this, the administration would also create systems for a more effective
utilization of Course Representatives and SOM student leaders to address course specific
and related concerns. This would be accomplished through more meetings and individual
consultations with key persons ranging from student leaders, alumni, and staff administrators.
This administration would also ensure that every single seat in the school assembly
is filled up to maximize representation of the students and have clear avenues for student
concerns. Due to the influx of opportunities the prior platform points predict, information
dissemination needs definite channels that can reach the student body.

PLATFORM:

The short- to medium-term goal of this platform is to open all the floodgates across many
different groups and areas in order to enable students to fully maximize and realize their
Ateneo formation and education. This means providing students with as many avenues and
opportunities as possible, as well as laying the groundwork for the long-term goal, which
involves a shift in culture towards a SOSS which values discourse, interdisciplinary
cooperation and support.
We plan to achieve this via the following:

1. A PROFESSIONAL SOSS SANGGUNIAN. Along with efforts to open the SOSS

Sanggunians processes and plans to the student body, there is a need for SOSS to address
SOSS students concerns in the most efficient way possible, and to enhance and follow
through with SOSS students suggestions and ideas. Above all, the system needs to be
human: we systematize to make sure SOSS Sanggunian is ready to provide students with
what they need and what they deserve. To do this, we will create a SOSS Sanggunian
representatives training program with the following elements:
a. Workshops on design thinking, operations management, and others;
b. Immersion in committees and institutions such as the Discipline Committee and the
Budget Committee (this not only maximizes student representation in committees
where they matter most; it also allows representatives to learn the inner workings of
the administration, and thus, become much more effective in lobbying for policy
changes inside the school); and,
c. A separate formation program for representatives which would instil in them an
outwards-looking mindseteverything done in SOSS Sanggunian must be to serve
the student body, and/or the nation.

2. SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS AND STUDENT GROUPS. SOSS Sanggunian will be

a Sanggunian which believes in the capabilities and in the good will of each and every
student body. SOSS Sanggunian will not impose and will not walk ahead of the students,
but will encourage and support; that is, walk beside each student. As a general rule, SOSS
Sanggunian will, to the best of its abilities, provide each student with the support he or she
needs to be able to maximize his or her abilities whilst pursuing his or her ambitions or
passions. This will be achieved in the following ways:
a. Continued support for accredited organizations via two of the Sanggunians most
powerful resources: finances, and the power to lobby and harness its connection
with ADMU administration towards org activities which are more effective and
impactful;
b. Financial, logistical and marketing support, as well as continued liaising with OSA
for more support for emerging organization, and with any other concern emerging
organization might face;
c. Diversification of the campus demographic by continued support for scholars
and minorities on campus; and,
d. Continued support for students at risk via possible school policy changes and
improvement of services provided by the Guidance Office and the Bulatao
Center.

3. EXTERNALIZATION, COOPERATION AND COMMUNICATION. Above

all, and as previously mentioned, the goal of this platform is to encourage discourse,
interdisciplinary cooperation and support. Essentially, this means shifting culture
towards one which is consistently geared towards the other, and which builds on the
strengths of the Atenean in order to build beyond. SOSS Sanggunian will achieve this
in the following ways:
a. Encourage healthy spaces for discourse on campus through regular and open
merienda sessions where students are invited to talk about issues both inside
and outside campus;
b. Expansion of immersion and formation programs outside the borders of INAF
(this removes the pressure of grades and requirements and focuses instead on
the impactful application of the ADMU formation in reality):
i. Expansion of the Jesuit Volunteers Program to include shorter programs (a
few weeks long) which undergraduates can participate in;
ii. Organization of opportunities for students to work with faculty or other
groups in ADMU in achieving the specific thrusts of the School of Social
Sciences; and,
iii. A partnership with the Ateneo Alumni Association in order to provide
students not only with internships, but also with mentors who belong to the
field/s of work students are interested in.
c. Further expansion of the Sanggunian Subsidy System to incentivize the
following
i. Theses, researches, projects or programs which have a social impact or
uphold advocacies;
ii. Theses, researches, projects or programs which may directly improve
student formation, education or general student life on campus;
iii. Theses, researches, projects or programs which entail and encourage
interdisciplinary or inter-organization cooperation.

as a liaison between my constituents and the Philosophy department, the following are my
plans if I am elected into office. If elected, I promise to serve in the Sanggunian to the best of
my abilities.

First, I will continue the curriculum review for the Philosophy program especially with
regards to the major subjects. Most of the major subjects taken by the Philosophy majors are
Western while Oriental philosophy is neglected. There are only two courses offered about
Eastern Philosophy: Chinese and Indian Philosophy which comprises just 6 units of our
curriculum. Moreover, there are also no electives and courses offered which offers a
comprehensive study of the works of Fr. Roque Ferriols who is the pioneer in teaching
philosophy in Filipino. I want to ensure feedback mechanisms are in place so the curriculum
is better suited for philo majors' interests and contexts.

Secondly, I also want to advance labor rights and welfare on campus. I also seek to
open spaces for dialogue among the Sanggunian and the Ateneo Employees and Workers
Union (AEWU), faculty association, and outsourced employees.

Lastly, I also seek to advance student rights and welfare. I seek to Advocate the
inclusion of provisions for anti-sexual harassment and gender rights, and financial aid for

as stipulated in the Magna Carta.

Also, I especially enjoy meeting, getting to know and

PLATFORM:
The life of todays Management Engineering student is driven by two objectives:
Academic and Co-Curricular Excellence. It is in acting through these objectives to which we
form our identities and relationships with others, and ultimately ground our college lives
upon. Needless to say, it is in the best interest of the Management Engineering Students that
they are aided in achieving these objectives. And in running for Management Engineering
Course Representative this school year, I aim to be the mediator that connects the demands of
my constituents to the solutions made available through and by the Sanggunian.
On Academic Pursuits
In being Student-Leaders, substantial focus on academics are unmistakably important
and must not be forsaken. Through the college years of any Management Engineering
student, academic challenges are to be expected. However, there are areas in the current
curricular system which pose great challenges or hurdles that offer no significant return to the
growth of my constituents. For this reason, there is a need to push for:
1) Curriculum Review and Revision Proposal
In its initial stage, such effort shall put emphasis on the Second Year Curriculum as
this is the point in time where Management Engineering students establish their academic and
co-curricular identitieswhere they choose to invest in certain organizations, deliberate on a
minor, etc. This is so because of a notable excess in Core Subject Distribution, or a lack in
course-relevant subjects, proving to be relatively lax. Although this allows the students to
pursue leadership opportunities made available to them, the students of the course
unknowingly end up invest a year of their time to a course they know little about, unsure if
the course is really fit for their desired identities.
2) Reformation of the National Service Training Program
As a lot of regards concerning the programs effectiveness have surfaced in the past
few years. There is a great need to meet the program organizers interests and the batches
concerns, as the inconsistency and flaws of the current system poses little significance to the
growth of the constituents.
3) Company Information Database and Directory (LS, Super Project, etc.)
Other challenges that have surfaced would be the difficulty of searching and gathering
needed company information as young students, for not everyone has an established
connection to companies just yet. Thus, the provision of such access would surely be
beneficial for all the constituents
On Co-Curricular Pursuits
We, as Management Engineering students, do no just exhibit competence inside the
classroom, but also outside of it. It is through co-curricular endeavors that we expand our
identity and our relationships, as we are immersed in many different work environments.
However, there is this natural scarcity in leadership opportunities found in all organizations,
leading to member stagnancy and network limiting. There many talents out there waiting for
the opportunity, and it is time to provide the constituents these.
1) Establishment of SOM Interest/Competence-Based Pools
In pushing for a system that encourages the development of projects within the School
of Management, more opportunities are made open to, not just the Management Engineering
students, but the whole of SOM. Ideally, the system would simultaneously incite organized
collaboration outside of ones course and promote new beneficial relationships. Additionally,
this system would include member trainings relevant to the pools theyre under, for the
development of interests and skills.
2) Introduction of a SOM (Fundraising) Variety Show/Fair
This shall, ideally, make use of the pools as proposed above. In materializing the
system, this program should promote the involvement of all courses, resulting in the
enjoyment, knowledge and relationships of the constituents.
On Administrational Agendas
In functioning as the main liaison of the Management Engineering body, there are also some
inclusions or resolutions that must be made for the betterment of performance execution.
Namely:
1) Exhibit Transparent and Active Info Dissemination within existing connection
streams
This entails the creation of an effective Social Media Account specifically for
Sanggunian-ME students
that ensures that all disseminated information reaches the constituents by tapping into
existing connection streams and maximizing its utility.
2) Obtain and work upon pertinent information from those in particular academic
and/or non-academic situations that call for Course Representatives mediation
and aid
This entails the creation of a unit geared towards giving the boost and/or support that
ME students may need. Members of such body shall be in charge of obtaining details of those
in need of support. In doing this as a representative, the voices of the constituents will surely
be heard.
I believe in creating tools of productivity, building bridges of relationships
and opening doors of opportunities, that the interests of the Management Engineering
students are pushed forward and always made relevant.

PLATFORM:

As a course representative, my main goal is to empower and encourage ME seniors to believe

that they are capable of change not only to matters related to the program such as the
curriculum and career options post-graduation, but also to the Ateneo community and what
lies beyond it especially in terms of social and political issues. I plan to do this first, by
addressing common concerns they already have such as issues with internship, super project,
and graduation. Second, I plan to close the distance between students and admin (particularly
ME students and their program director) to give both parties a better perspective. Lastly, I
plan to encourage ME students to go beyond academics and to push for issues they think the
Sanggunian and Ateneo community should tackle.

Improve Student-Admin Relationship

Many students often have questions about school from something as trivial as
suspension of classes to something more important such as graduation and a recurring
problem is that they dont know who to ask especially since most do not personally
know people from the Sanggunian who can address these queries. I plan to put up a
general concerns form that will operate throughout the year in the batch group where
constituents can ask questions they may have about anything. We will then answer
these questions by asking the offices or people concerned with it and get back to them
by posting the answer in an online thread that will be constantly updated.
Too many ME students go into their next year in the course without knowing what
lies ahead for them. Seniors, for instance, will be particularly concerned with the
super project. I plan to talk to our program director and coordinate with him to hold
talks with ME students on a per-batch basis about matters they should be concerned
about. These will be held either at the end or beginning of the year depending on
urgency and scheduling issues.
With curriculum revisions along the way because of the K-12 program, I plan to hold
FGDs with randomly selected ME seniors at the end of the year to ask them about
what they think about the ME curriculum. This will include issues they have with
current major subjects such as accounting and operations research and other
suggestions they have that can improve the ME curriculum for future batches.
Address Common Issues Students Have Before and After Graduation
As mentioned above, ME seniors have a lot to things to deal with before they
graduate. To lessen their burden and give them an easier time, I plan to constantly
update them on things they should be concerned about particularly what happens after
our summer internship, super project, immersion, and things related to graduation
such as Aegis, Blue Roast and Pabaon.
Many seniors also look for opportunities such as competitions and seminars to hone
their skills and grow as students. However, while these opportunities are abundant,
many students are not aware of them. I plan to solve this problem by asking individual
ME seniors via survey what types of opportunities they are interested in. This will
range from networking opportunities, simple case competitions to leadership
seminars. Then, I will update them when opportunities related to their interests are
present.
A bulk of problems all seniors face is also what happens after graduation. I plan to
release a primer about different opportunities they have after graduation. These
include job opportunities in companies and corporations and graduate school such as
MBA programs and law school.

Encourage ME Students to Go Beyond Academics

I believe that all students are part of the Sanggunian even if they dont hold positions
or arent part of any offices or departments. I believe that affairs in the Sanggunian
should be transparent to keep students informed that their student government and the
people they voted for arent just sitting idly but are actually doing their job. Therefore,
minutes in meetings and plenaries will be posted in the JG SOM School Board
Sanggunian facebook page within 24 hours after the meeting has ended. In addition, I
also expect ME students to give feedback on the officers that are currently in place,
including myself to work on things we are lacking and take in suggestions they may
have.
Mentioned above is a survey that will be held to get to know what ME seniors
interests include. This will not be limited to what theyre interested in in terms of
competitions and seminars, but will also include issues they are passionate about such
as mental health, lowering the minimum age of criminal responsibility etc. Similar to
opportunities, I will then update them about events that may interest them such as
talks held by the Sanggunian and even meetings open to the Ateneo community
talking about policies and projects related to them

PLATFORM:
For the past years, the Sanggunian has always been of help to the Ateneo community,
especially to the student body. Although, the problem lies on whether or not those who
benefit from this service actually are able to recognize it. For me, solving this problem
necessitates more pathways for involvement of the students towards a better society inside
and outside of the Ateneo.

For example, the Mental Health Awareness Week, a project of the Sanggunian that
only started last year, was able to earn its well-deserved attention and participation from the
student body. This year, MHAW will be taking a step forward and continuing with this
positive progression each year. Initially, we were able to accept a substantial amount of
students who were willing to offer their service to the community. With this, we are
optimistic that we will also be able to earn a huge amount of participation from the student
body in the week-long event itself. By showing them that their involvement not only helps
themselves but also makes a difference to and takes effect on the inside and outside
community of the Ateneo, we were able to earn much more care and recognition coming
from the student body. In addition to this, we will also be able to uphold one of the
characteristics of Ateneans -- men and women for others. To be able to reach out to the
student body more, we can create more avenues for them to be more involved and included in
the community. By helping them reach out to the community they belong in more, we are
helping them discover their own capabilities and letting them use these as tools to become a
better member of the student body and the whole community. The goal for me is to reach out
to them to help them reach out to other people -- to help them help others. That, for me, is
one of the ways that the Sanggunian can be more present in the lives of Ateneans.

A huge problem that BSM AMF majors face is the restriction that comes along with
the stereotype of being a math major. Because AMF is focused on specializing in
mathematics and finance, this may be restricting most of us into the common career pathways
and from avenues wherein we can use and develop our learnings more. We need more
exposure to other applications of our program, aside from finance, government, actuary, etc.
In addition to this, the Ateneo Mathematics Society is constantly working on breaking the
walls that this branding that outsiders have placed upon the organization.

This branding seemingly boxes their capabilities and sizes them down to an
academiconly organization. Inevitably, this wall seems to restrict the scope of our events. For
me, the Sanggunian may be able to work hand-in-hand with AMS and be able to build more
projects and create more events wherein not only AMS members are invited but also the
whole LS community. The Sanggunian will be able to reach to more students, and thus will
be of great help to developing a wider scope and more diverse opportunities for the AMF
majors.
As the course representative of a course consisting of a small number of students, my
role can be bettered by conducting surveys which will be much easier to do considering the
amount of respondents. These surveys can help us know more about their needs and the
needs of others. Even though the process of stratification for this survey does not let us
achieve a more appropriate and accurate representation of the opinions of the whole student
body, the goal here is to be able to let them voice out their different perspectives and angles
towards certain issues. Conducting surveys will be helpful to solidify their views that will
greatly contribute to the betterment of this community. Through this, the Sanggunian can
build more avenues and projects leaning towards solving these problems.

As mentioned above, through these projects/events, the students of my course will be

able to use their abilities to be more involved in making Ateneo a better community for them
and their fellow students.

PLATFORM:
In my opinion, the Sanggunian has been doing a good job of taking care of the
students as well as giving them a voice. I think though that I would like to focus more on
student involvement and interaction with the student body. I feel that people should know
that they have a voice in this, and that their wish to be heard shall not go unrecognised. The
platform I am presenting is one with more student involvement and one where each student
feels like they have a hand and say in the student body.
As I am running for course representative for a relatively small or unknown course
with few student members, I feel like this platform should focus on showing them that they
are still an integral member of the student body considering that given the situation, these
people may go unnoticed at times. I feel like with the small number of course members, it
gives a good perspective into their opinions. This then allows them to have an equal say as
other more prominent courses, giving them the confidence and the knowledge that what they
are part of the big picture. I see this as an opportunity to give more opportunities and for them
to feel that they have an impact.

PLATFORM:
Throughout my first year of being in Ateneo I always found that enlistment was
difficult. Most of my constituents in my first year of being the course representative would
always complain about AISIS, about how it would sometimes crash and about them running
out of slots for their classes. When AISIS would crash, and even though it does not happen
often it does happen, it can be the cause for a student to lose a slot for their class. Other than
that your chance of running out of slots for a certain course can also be due to often
uncontrollable factors such as your internet speed and online enlistment batch number which
are sources of completely unnecessary stress towards the students.

In order to fix these issues I believe that advisement should be stricter and be more
promoted. A lot of students dont go through advisement which causes the number of slots
being opened up to be less than the number of students who need that specific course. This
may be due to two things, one being that they do not through advisement simply because they
are lazy and it isnt strictly enforced or the other being that they might not even know about
the exact details of their advisement for their home department which is why I believe that
promoting advisement and making it more strict will help in these issues. On the other hand
the issue of AISIS crashing is something I do not know the exact solution to but I am looking
to forward this issue.
Besides the problems surrounding AISIS and our online enlistment system I would
also like to push for the review of any potential problems that my constituents would have
regarding the curriculum of our course. Since my course, BS Digital Game Design and
Development, is new and was only opened to freshmen this year I believe that my
constituents might have specific concerns regarding our course and when they do I want for
their concerns to be addressed.

PLATFORM:
1. Academic Support. Bachelor of Arts in Life Sciences is admittedly a challenging course
in terms of the academic difficulty level and workload, placing as one of the honors courses
in the Ateneo. As representatives of the course to the Sanggunian, more avenues should be
provided in order to effectively improve the quality of the course through student and
department feedback and review.
a. Course Evaluation. In order to properly address academic concerns related to
workload and majors, regular feedback and assessment of the course and its subjects
must be practiced. Additionally, the evaluation would also include teacher and syllabi
assessment in order to provide an overview on the effectiveness of the subject
requirements and the class environment. This entails the practice of open
communication with the teachers and transparency on the subject performance based
from constructive feedback from the students.
2. Student Concerns. It is a must to invest on addressing different student concerns within
the batch. In order to bring up these concerns, proper communication must be executed
between the parties in order to give light and context to current situations.
a. Student Concerns Form and Consultation. Utilization of current technology in
collection and archiving of student concerns that may be directly addressed or relayed
to concerned parties or individuals. An online form would be made available for
Biology-specific and Life Sciences-specific concerns and consultations.
3. Internalization and Externalization. Proper communication and relationship must be
established within and outside the course in order to utilize the assets of each.
a. Coordination with the Biology Department, Ateneo Biological Organization -
eXplore. eXperience. eXcel., and School of Science and Engineering Sanggunian.
A course representative would act as a link for students with the department, home
organization, and Sanggunian. This link would be utilized in order to externalize the
efforts and improve the relationship of all parties.
b. Professional Development Series. Junior year is a crucial year in terms of
choosing the course specialization and setting out the career path to be taken after
senior year. In order to help in the discernment process and enrich the students of the
available opportunities the course may offer, several professional development series
may be executed such as, but not limited to, the following:
i. Specialization Information Primer and Prospectus Dissemination
ii. Preparation and Assistance in Resume Building and Applications for
Masterals, Medical Admission Tests, etc.
iii. Database on the Fields, Jobs or Careers of Biology and Life Sciences

PLATFORM:
I am Beatrice Cassandra Gruta, running for the position of Course Representative in
the Sanggunian ng mga Paaralang Loyola ng Ateneo de Manila. I chose to vie for this
position in order to be of service to my beloved course mates. I believe that it is time for a
Biology major to rightfully represent our course. In becoming Course Representative, I aim
to put into effect three competencies during my tenure: (1) to Bridge, (2) to Include, and (3)
to Offer.
An effort to bridge is imperative in uniting my course. Since several of my course
mates have shifted out during the three years in university, I believe it right to fill in the
missing pieces by rallying the entire course together. I aim to accomplish this by first
representing BS Biology 2019 in the Sanggunian. By having proper representation, I may be
able to elevate and voice out their concerns for the betterment of their experience inside the
Ateneo. I plan to implement an efficient information dissemination system that will allow
them to thrive given the dynamic university environment. I will also be competent in
answering school-related inquiries to keep my fellow course mates in track and updated.
My next proposition is to include. We have several shift-ins from different courses
who feel as if they do not belong to a particular block. Given that we are already in our junior
year, and consequently, have two remaining academic years left in the university, I find it fit
that BS Biology functions as a united course instead of being comprised of two separate
blocks. I suggest implementing a buddy system between the two blocks to help them forge
stronger bonds. The buddy system would also be helpful for each member to communicate
their strengths and troubles in the academic sphere. I also want to have an exam welfare
project wherein the buddy will do something for his partner to help uplift the tension and
pressure experienced mostly during the exam period.
Lastly, I am running as Course Representative to offer. Since most of our block
representatives have stepped down during their terms, I want to refresh BS Biology 2019 of
their outlook on the Sanggunian now that the said institution is also undergoing radical
changes. I want BS Biology to reap the benefits of being under the Sanggunian that
champions student welfare. With these three competencies B-I-O, I offer myself as a
friend, a classmate, and as representative in realizing my aspirations for my course so that we
may make the most of our stay in the Ateneo .

However, when given the chance, my leadership skills take over
and thus proving that either being a leader or a helper, I make
things happen. In a group, I consider everyones ideas and I am
able to maintain my composure a tense environment. I am
obedient when given instructions or orders and I also respect my
co-members. I am also greatly capable in multi-tasking. In
addition to all that, I am quite skilled in a lot of forms of
handicraft.

Interests: I enjoy making different kinds of art like making random

sculptures, or just drawing random doodles on my notes. I also
like listening to music but only those that are either Pop or EDM.
I also like playing Ultimate Frisbee, and other sports like
badminton or volleyball. Lastly, I like watching anime.
PLATFORM:
My name is Luigi Montemayor, and I am vying for the position of Course
Representative in the Sanggunian ng mga Paaralang Loyola ng Ateneo de Manila. I believe
that I will thrive in this position because my missions, which I choose to uphold and fulfill
once elected, is to revamp or optimize information dissemination, start changes that only
elected representatives can perform, and to unite my coursemates into a family.

When I first applied for this newly updated position, I kept in mind that the things that
plan to do when elected are not objectives that can be done in one term, and as I look back,
these are things that I cannot fulfill even when my stay in the Loyola Schools is over. So, as I
enter my supposed and aspired for last term as a course representative, I will continue what I
have not finished and most likely strive for more, that of which I havent done in my previous
term.

Information dissemination is a given task of all elected course representatives, which

is to simply give the news and updates of the Sanggunian to each constituent of the student
body. However, the way that I want to uphold this responsibility is to make it happen both
ways. Not only will the constituents be updated with all the information needed to be
disseminated, but to let their voices, cries, and wishes to be heard by the appropriate
authorities and figures.

The change that I wish to start is not one that has to end with my term, but something
that all those who follow and come after me to uphold and maybe someday finish when all
has been done. For my term, I wish to establish a connection between the administrators and
the students under the Department of Biology, with the goal of one day influencing the upper
echelon to provide the students with more advanced facilities and equipment. Not only will
this benefit the students in their studies, but will also entail better research and theses that the
school can publicize.
Lastly, although it sounds corny and cheesy, I found a family in my course, and all I
want to do for them is to give them the best as well as to bring them closer. To do so, it can
be as simple as participating in seasonal festivities, to something like inter-block
competitions or hangouts. All of these, I promise to start and uphold, if elected for the
position that I long to hold.

PLATFORM:
Interfaith Activities
Although Ateneo is a catholic institution, its student body is composed of a diverse
community of various faiths. Openness towards these other faiths is already evident within
the university. Much like those conducted during recollections, more interfaith activities
should be done more often to increase unity and rapport within the student body. These
interfaith activities may be done in coordination with the Office of Campus Ministry and
even with external faith groups.

Emerging Organizations Rights

In line with its diversity, Ateneo has a large student population that are members of
emerging or independent student organizations. These organizations should be given the
opportunity to have financial and strategic support. Though not under the Council of
Organizations of the Ateneo (COA), independent organizations still have the ability to
represent the students demographic. The Sanggunian should empower and support these
organizations to provide them better opportunities to grow.

Promoting Sciences and their relevance to society

For the past year, SOSE Sanggunian has been able to push for summits and talks
aimed at showing the relevance of the sciences to the public sphere and the greater student
body not under the School of Science and Engineering. This should be continued in the
coming year, because this should be a long term project to increase the awareness of the
sciences and to promote its relevance.

The SOSE Sanggunian should also utilize its Facebook page to publish weekly or
monthly summaries of its activities.

Sanggunian Officers Manual

The Sanggunian should create an officers manual consisting of all the powers and
responsibilities of an officer, all procedures relevant to an officers work, the Code of Internal
Procedures, and solutions to frequently encountered student concerns. This manual will aid
first-time officers in learning the ropes of the Sanggunian. This is a long-term project that
may be amended in the future. The production of the manual may be done in coordination
with the Department of the Secretariat and Department of Formation.

If I am to be elected, I will strive hard to make sure that my course, MIS, will continue
to have a voice in the Sanggunian in matters that affect us heavily and beyond. I will make
sure to have an open ear for whatever concerns my course mates have on any matter,
whether it concerns the student body as a whole or the entire nation. I believe that MIS has
a crucial role to play in nation building, especially in helping out in streamlining many
processes with the effective use of technology. As such, as MIS Course Representative, I
will lobby for an assessment or re-assessment of all processes that deal with the concerns
of the students, both in the school administration and in the Sanggunian, as there are some
processes that overlap between the two.

I cannot deny that the school administration is doing the best it can to repair, maintain,
and add new facilities for all of us to use in campus. However, I would like to lobby for the
following facilities to be added:

Vending machines in Faura Hall. If completed, will provide cheap and easy to access
food to students in Faura, from the Social Sciences building, as well as from the Library.
Complete LSWLAN1 Coverage in every part of the Loyola Schools. Certain areas of the
Loyola Schools are not reached by a router propagating the LSWLAN1 network, including,
but not limited to, the SEC and CTC-SOM building complex, and Berchmans Hall.
Despite the risk of having students abuse the internet access while in their classes, I believe
that other forms of learning provided by the internet are effective and will in itself attract
the students attention.

A paved walkway on the side of the JGSOM building. Even if only a small minority of
students use this route, it must still be considered as its current state seems unsafe. A study
may then be conducted if the route should be closed off more permanently or if a proper
walkway be made so that students taking the route may do so safely.

Skills: I am a team player and can easily work well with others. I am
knowledgeable in all the Microsoft Office applications. I am also
fluent in English, Filipino, and Chinese Mandarin.
Interests: I love reading books and playing volleyball. I also love cooking
and listening to music.
PLATFORM:
One of my advocacies is transparency.
The platform under this advocacy is the transparency of the breakdown of percentage
of a students tuition fee. Many of people have been asking about the tuition fee and its
specific breakdown of percentage. What percent of our tuition actually goes to the teachers,
what percent goes to the school and what percent goes to the utilities and so on. I would do
this by writing a request to know or see the percentage breakdown so that I can inform them
so that they will no longer wonder where their tuition fee is going. After seeing the
breakdown of percentage of the tuition fee, I would also propose some changes because the
tuition in Ateneo is really expensive as compared to other schools and I believe that everyone
should have a chance to a great education This platform will be more feasible if other course
representatives join together. It would make more of an impact.
Another one of my advocacies is the awareness and support to the LGBTQA
community.
I know that the Ateneo is very open to the LGBTQA community and that people in
Ateneo respect them and treat them equally but there are still some others who dont feel the
same way or simply dont care enough around them. I know people who are part of the
LGBTQA and they said that they do feel welcome in Ateneo but they still feel that they are
not really that accepted yet, and I want them to feel that they can really be who they are in
Ateneo. I also want them to have a safe place where they can talk about the problems they
have faced or are still facing. Because of this I would want to propose an event similar to that
of the pride week that was done in Ateneo last time, but what makes my platform different is
that I want make an event where there will be speakers and they will talk about What is
LGBTQA and everything we need to know about it. There would also be different activities
in this event. Like maybe a talent show. The main goal of this platform is just to make more
people aware and more people care about the LGBTQA community in Ateneo.
Another one of my platforms will be about tackling the problems of excused cuts still
being counted as cuts. Many students have faced the problem of being sick or injured and
having to get a medical certificate but the medical certificate is not honored and thus leading
it to still being a cut.
Lastly, I would like to lobby for an improvement of the INAF program and the
Guidance Council office for I believe that these are programs and services that are essential
to an Atenean.

1. To co-author a resolution on the evaluation of classroom facilities. The resolution
will help us lobby to the administration for the modernization of said facilities.
This resolution, if passed, would be utilized in order to lobby to the Loyola
schools administration to modernize our learning facilities and in effect induce a
conducive learning environment.
2. To co-author a resolution to appeal the number of allowed cuts for subjects such
as Intact since the number of cuts given for this elective is not enough for the
students
3. To co-author a resolution to lobby for a policy in the Loyola schools protecting
the students from unexcused cuts by giving a set amount of circumstances where
said circumstances will count as excused cuts.

PLATFORM:

As an aspiring Course Representative, my platform aims to increase the well-being

of students in BS (Bachelor of Science) and AB (Bachelor of Arts) Psychology.
Well-being is connected to the notion of social interest, which relies heavily on the
sense of belonging to a community. Psychology students face the rigors of
everyday life in university. However, they are also equipped with valuable
knowledge on human development, which makes them sensitive individuals who
have great potential in positively influencing the Atenean community at large. This
platform focuses on fostering a relationship with Psychology students through
effective communication,
1) TINIG. This project aims to foster a relationship with Psychology students
through effective communication.
An inviting space for discourse can be generated first and foremost by
knowing the problems that Psychology majors face. This will be
accomplished through an initial survey. The students responses will be kept
anonymous and will be used as a basis in understanding the current status of
Psychology students in terms of social, academic, and co-curricular
activities.
An active group page will be used to keep Psychology students updated on
announcements from the Sanggunian. It will also be used to feature different
Psychology students every two weeks as a way of promoting a sense of
community within the course.
A separate social media account will be used as a platform where
Psychology students can voice out concerns that they wish to take action on.
2) GABAY. This project aims to reach out and activate the potential of freshmen in
Psychology as they adjust to university life. Conversely, it also aims to serve as an
avenue for juniors in Psychology to be exposed to different professionals in the
field that will cater to both BS and AB Psychology students.
After the participation of freshmen in the annual SOSS Camp, a separate
welcoming talk will be held for freshmen that primarily focuses on their
course. Sophomore, Junior and Senior Psychology representatives will be
asked to talk about their experiences and can entertain questions from the
freshmen. This project aims to introduce a caring environment for the
freshmen within their course.

Consequently, juniors in Psychology will also be given the opportunity to

attend talks held by professionals in the field in order to introduce them to
their options after college.

3) HAWAK-KAMAY. This project aims to encourage Psychology students to

participate in school-wide events related to their course. It also aims to provide an
avenue where Psychology students can interact with communities related to their
course with the help of partner organizations (e.g Psyche).
Pscyhology students will be encouraged to participate and promote projects
like Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) whose goals are timely and
relevant to the Atenean community within the context of Psychology.
As previously stated, an active group page will be used to inform and invite
Psychology students to participate in events by their home organization
(Psyche). Participating in such events can foster a deeper sense of
community, which ultimately contributes to the students well-being.

this institution. To answer the call, I now stand with USAD in its push for a Sanggunian that
works for all Ateneans. I now stand on behalf of my coursemates to push for the following
issues to be recognized and resolved as a candidate for Course Representative:
1. Advance student rights and welfare
A. Institutionalize student-centered mental health care and services by working
with the Office of Guidance and Counseling, administrators, faculty, and
students among others to promote and reinforce available mental health
services within the University.
2. Bridge campus politics with the broader national context
A. Create spaces for political engagement by establishing the Committee on

the university through regular hearings and public consultations with sectoral
groups, as well as provide support for sectors and underrepresented student
groups seeking formal recognition.
B. Promote full transparency and student involvement with Sanggunian

Lastly, I am multilingual as I have been exposed to many
languages in the province where I come from.
Interests: I like reading novels and binge watching different TV series. I
love coffee and make- up and I find joy in interacting with kids.
In my free time, I like to sleep
PLATFORM:
As a Diplomacy and International Relations major, I have seen how our course works
and how the Political Science Department helps us in pursuing this. However, as a DipIR
major who was always in the sidelines up until this time, I felt that while our program is
good, it could be even better. I have asked my constituents for their sentiments and I felt that
these concerns can be addressed with the help of the Sanggunian. With all that, my platform
aims to help the program and my constituents be more prepared when it comes to the reality
of the IR sphere outside of the Ateneo.
I plan to achieve the preparedness of being an IR practitioner by having:
1. A better enlistment and sectioning system for our FLCs.
Indicated in our curriculum, DipIR majors are required to take 12 units of Foreign
Language and Culture (FLCs). As we specialize in East and Southeast Asia, we can only
choose between three FLC classes namely, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. The rationale
behind the 12 units of FLCs is the departments vision for its students to be more equipped
when taking the Foreign Service Exam by the Department of Foreign Affairs as it is a must
that you know a foreign language other than English and your native tongue.
As we take these FLC classes as our major, it is a need that we get slots for these
classes. The problem here is that during enlistment, we run out of slots causing us to
manually register for it. Some classes only allow less than 20 students in it mixing both
DipIR majors and non-DipIR majors. Considering this, I propose that DipIR majors should
choose what language we want before enlistment so that we can be pre-enlisted to a section
with our coursemates in our chosen FLCs. With this, we equalize the learning pace of DipIR
majors as they are put in one section with one another.

2. A series of talks about Diplomacy and International Relations

Throughout my stay here in the Ateneo, my course mates and I have only ever been to a
handful of talks organized by our department with a diplomat/ambassador/consul as the
speaker. As much as we would like to learn about what IR practitioners do on a real-time
basis, we do not have the capacity to do so. Our contact with them is very minimal and I feel
that we need exclusive exposure with them if we want to be immersed in their respective field
and hopefully learn from it.. Should I become one of our course representatives, I propose
that the Sanggunian shall partner with organizations that promote awareness for the DipIR
field for a series of talks done by IR professionals. This project will hopefully broaden our
perspective outside of the classroom that will strengthen our desire to be in the diplomacy
and international relations field in the near future.
3. A DipIR Field School
As lectures and talks on the DipIR field may not be enough to prepare us for its
reality, I propose that the Sanggunian, in cooperation with our department, work hand in hand
to create a DipIR field school. A field school addresses the need for us to be put out there.
Hopefully, this field school will truly immerse us in the culture of DipIR.
Being a diplomat is not just about knowing the theories and rationalizations in geo-
politics. It is also about knowing how to apply these theories practically and I am confident
that a well-crafted field school curriculum will prepare us for what happens real time. Also, I
propose that with its creation, it can also be credited in lieu of the internship during the
Intersession that DipIR Seniors are supposed to have. Indeed, we need experience and this
field school can hopefully give us that.

knowledgeable with the Mandarin. I know how to write
documents in legal format. I have worked my way through
various logistical process.
Interests:
I am most fond by the human connection that you find in what is
essentially a workspace. I find myself amused by the simple daily
encounter with people. I love reading a lot of stuff. I love reserving
venues and I believe that the formation of the individual will prove
very useful in his/her context.
As an aspiring representative for Chinese Studies, I believe that I should push for the
well-being of my constituents and help in advancing their beliefs and advocacies; and mine as
well. I believe that in a Sanggunian that is truly representative wherein it puts high premium
on its capacity to push for changes that will affect the student body at large.
I intend to push for certain resolutions. I want to push for the Review of the
Integrated Ateneo Formation Program. As students we have a stake on how we are formed
as Ateneans. I have received reports about the matter and I intend to use legislation to address
the issue. I also want a Review of the Current Logistical Processes by various LS offices.
As it might be outdated and might need an upgrade. Through this I hope that we can beat the
bureaucracy that impends the plans of various bodies in the University.
Given my commitment to the Mental Health Awareness I want to make sure that the
upcoming proposed Mental Health Policy shall happen and will translate properly in raising
awareness, safeguarding its direct and indirect respondents, and building a community here in
the Ateneo.
PLATFORM:
Lastly, I want to propose a standard Logistical Assistance System to the Central
Assembly for Approval. Since the Sanggunian has opened its door to assisting emerging
organizations in their logistical needs. This will ideally make things easier for both the
Sanggunian and the emerging organizations in their correspondence. This will also help in
bookkeeping and transparency purposes of the Sanggunians processes. I want to help these
emerging organizations to make their plans happen.

Interests:
I do graphic art, illustration, and typography. I love coffee,
Jollibee, and naps
PLATFORM:
As a candidate for 3 AB Communication Course Representative, I want to focus on
working on what it is my constituents want me to do for them. Specifically, I want to focus
on the track system and enlistment problems of my constituents, and taking steps towards
long-term initiatives for mental health. First, I plan to propose that the Communication
Department (COM Dept.) should make advisement mandatory for students as a way for
them to gauge how many students are taking each track and to know how many classes
they are supposed to open for students given that Interdisciplinary Studies (IS) majors also
take Communication (COM) classes because of the COM track they offer. This is a step
towards fixing the track system that the COM Dept. has been implementing. The track
system has been seen as insignificant by the COM majors due to the fact that they are not
guaranteed slots for classes under their chosen track. Second, I want to propose tagging
classes on AISIS specifically for 2nd year COM majors only, or 3rd year COM majors
only, etc. Tagging classes will, in a way, guarantee a slot for students who need to take the
classes. Most COM majors have difficulty enlisting in their majors because other students
from other courses use them as free electives or COM majors in higher year levels get the
classes first before those who need to take it. Consulting with the COM Dept., along with
the IS Dept., to know why their current system works the way that it does, what are the
ways that it could be fixed, and again, proposing the system of mandatory advisement and
tagged classes to help in resolving the issue would be my first step towards achieving this
plan.
Second, besides continuing Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW), long-term and
year-long initiatives will be done to bring the main vision of MHAW further and to
promote an environment of support and safety in Ateneo with the help of the Sanggunian
Central Assembly. Taking steps towards encouraging students to seek help regarding
mental concerns whether it be from the Sanggunian or other offices is one thing I propose
needs to be worked on. Lobbying for a mental health policy, the initiative started by the
current SOSS Sanggunian in partnership with Ateneo Psyche, will be continued until it is
fulfilled. The plans I propose to be put under the policy includes the following: (1)
ensuring that students always have access to mental health services, (2) improving the
Office of Student Services (OSS) protocol for suicide prevention, (3) addressing the
feedback regarding the services or lack thereof of the Loyola Schools Office of Guidance
and Counselling (LSOGC), (4) expanding the coverage of services that the Loyola Schools
Health Services (LSHS) caters to and including mental health services to put mental health
at par with physical health thus, also addressing the stigma, and (5) exploring the options
for a system when it comes to addressing students at risk, working with both the Ateneo
Bulatao Center for Psychological Services (Bulatao) and LSOGC.

As a previous block representative in my freshman year and course
representative during my sophomore year, I saw the potential of the Sanggunian to
forward an agenda or a policy that can be beneficial to the student body especially
with the new constitution taking place. I would want to be part of this as we open
the Sanggunian to everyone. Furthermore, we want to have inclusivity within the
Sanggunian that policies and projects we will be having within the Sanggunian is
not one sided. I believe that me and my coursemates can make a difference within
the LS community and that they do deserve to be represented especially in crucial
situations.
1. FLC for Dip IR majors
A problem with the FLC system for Dip IR students is the languages
themselves. Furthermore, Korean is being offered to students but it is not an option
for the Foreign Service Exams proficiency test portion. This is a problem because
students who are taking Korean but will eventually decide to take the Foreign
Service Exams cannot take the said exam. To avoid this problem, the program can
review its language offerings and make sure it is in line with the Foreign Service
Exams language options. Furthermore, I propose to study whether it is applicable
to either replace or add an option of having Bahasa Indonesia as one of the required
majors for Dip IR students. I think that this should be taken into consideration as
Bahasa Indonesia is one of the options for the Foreign Service Exams and it is also
within the programs specialization which is East and Southeast Asian Studies. This
is a platform point from last year that I still want to fight for. Furthermore, this is
not something that can be lobbied in a year but I would like to take this year to
research more on it and help find resources to make this happen during this year so
that it may hopefully be implemented in the next few years.
2. Foreign Service Exams Review
AB Dip IR majors are supposed to take the Foreign Service Exams when
they are planning to become diplomats and ambassadors in the future. I would want
to research on the feasibility of having Foreign Service Exams review as part of the
curriculum of AB Dip IR majors. This is essentially a crash course on the
components of the said exam with several mock exams. This is almost the same
with University of Santo Tomas, BS Accountancy wherein they have 5-year degree
as their 5th year is dedicated in reviewing for the CPA Board Exam. This is to
ensure that the students have a solid base on what to expect in the Foreign Service
Exams.
3. Better coordination with the Department of Political Science and the FLC
Departments
A problem that most 2 AB Dip IR majors encountered in the recently
concluded semester was that there were POS major subjects and the FLC subjects
which are also major subjects of the students that had conflicts with each other.
Moreover, there are FLCs that only offer 1 class especially for the higher FLC
levels thus creating problems in pre-enlistment. In order for this to not happen
again, there should be better ties with the departments concerned so that when come
advisement and enlistment, problems will be alleviated and last minute changes to
the students schedules will be minimized. This can be applied to other year levels
who have major subjects not by the Department of Political Science.
4. Sustainability Policy
Climate change has been a prominent issue not only within the Philippines but
the rest of the world. In line with this, I propose to do research on innovative ways
on how we can combat certain environmental issues that the school can adapt such
as banning straws, improving the segregation system in LS, and among others. This
may be in cooperation with certain organizations leaning towards this advocacy and
the different offices of the Loyola Schools. The data from this research can be used
to lobby for policies aligned to these and to find out if it is feasible within the
university.

Aside from fulfilling my role as the connection of my coursemates to the Political
Science department and taking note of their concerns, I forward these plans should I be
elected as course representative.
There have already been previous talks on the issue of sectoral representation and
public consultations with some sectors as to the concerns of some of the underrepresented
sectors in the LS community have been done. The Sanggunian and Comelec have already
been working for sectoral representation and it is in my interest to assist in implementing
this. It is my plan to continue with regular public consultations with the different sectoral
groups.
On the issue of mental health and mental health services, there are already many
helpful services that the campus offers to its students. Therefore, I propose to promote and
reinforce these.
I also wish to lobby for the recognition of outsourced employees as regular employees
of the University and for University workers due compensation. It is important that LS
students are politically aware and can respond to issues concerning labor and labor rights.
Therefore, workshops and a series of talks about these issues is necessary for the bridging of
campus politics to the broader national context.
Lastly, I hope to help in making the LS community one that is a safe-space for all
people regardless of their gender identities. As such, it is in my interest to advocate for the
inclusion of gender rights and LGBT rights in the Magna Carta of Student Rights. I am aware
of the Sanggunian Resolution that aims to fulfill this task and it is in my interest to assist with
that
