To Whom It May Concern:

I am delighted to write this letter of recommendation for Melanie Arfuso. Melanie is a senior
student enrolled in our undergraduate nursing program.
As the simulation coordinator I facilitate all simulations for our three (3) medical-surgical
nursing courses. I also serve as the faculty adviser to our Student Nurse Association (SNA), for
which Melanie serves as the President, after stepping into the role from the Vice-President role
she was elected to. Melanie is an amazing force. She has well developed leadership abilities, as
well as organizational skills. She has nearly single-handedly organized the vast majority of the
SNA activities this academic year.
Melanie is also involved in athletics at the university. being able to maintain good academic
standing, while balancing her academic load in a challenging curriculum in addition to her sports
and leadership activities is highly impressive. She demonstrates clear leadership abilities in both
the clinical and organizational sense.
Melanie is highly trustworthy and diligent in her endeavors. She brings energy and enthusiasm to
the leadership role. She has been the change agent partly responsible for breathing new life into
our Student Nurse Association (SNA), which previously lacked organization and participation.
Moreover, Melanie helped to organize attendance at the National Student Nurse Association
(NSNA) mid-year conference for November 2016, including fundraising, transportation and
hotel accommodations. She has devoted hours worth of organization for not only this event, but
overall promotion and organization for our university chapter of SNA. We now have a very
large, very active group thanks in part to Melanies efforts.
Clinically, she has proven communication and team leading abilities as the primary care nurse
for her team during high fidelity simulations. She has well developed verbal communication and
delegation abilities. Her hands on nursing skills are superb and her ease with handling patient
and/or family communication issues is commendable.
In addition to being a naturally compassionate and caring person, Melanies dedication and
commitment to the nursing profession, demonstrated leadership abilities, academic success, and
overall involvement in student activities should make her a superb candidate for any position in
nursing. I strongly believe that she will make lasting contributions to any organization she is
involved with. If you require any additional information or have any questions feel free to
contact me.
Sincerely,
Mary Dorsey
