development of societies. MHI manufactures 700 items in a very broad range of
fields, including launch vehicles, power-generation systems, ships, industrial
machines and room air conditioners, and each helps to support the lifestyles of
people today.

Offshore wind turbine
Europe and Japan
As the use of offshore wind turbines increases in Europe,
MHI has become the first Japanese company to sign a
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the utility
company of the United Kingdom for a project to develop
large offshore wind turbines.
MHI is proceeding with the development of large size
wind power generating system with innovative hydraulic
drive train supported by the Ministry of Economy, Trade
and Industry (METI)/ the New Energy and Industrial
Technology Development Organization (NEDO) and the
governments of the United Kingdom.
Demonstration of Next-Generation Energy and Social Systems
Japan (Keihanna)
Toward the realization of a smart community in Japan,
the government selected four areas within the country
to implement a demonstration project with a pioneer
spirit. MHI is participating in the demonstration project
in the Keihanna area (Kyoto Prefecture), one of the
four selected. In the demonstration project, we target
a system architecture of energy management
throughout the town, including living infrastructure
such as houses, buildings, transportation and waste
treatment facilities; striving to realize a smart
community that is truly useful to society, with the
support of local residents.
Demonstration Project for Next-generation
Transportation Infrastructure Spain
MHI has commenced a demonstration project,
aligned with the Malaga Smart city Project currently
underway in southern Spain, which will demonstrate
and verify the various businesses necessary for
establishing a next-generation transportation
infrastructure enabling considerable reductions in
CO2 emissions. The project will help leverage
state-of-the-art Japanese technologies in renewable
energy, energy conservation and smart
communities worldwide, and develop new growth
industry of Japan.
Smart Communities project
India
MHI has reached agreement with the Tata Group,
India's the largest business group, to conduct a
feasibility study (F/S) for the creation of an
environmentally friendly smart community
through an MHI-led consortium. The Mitsubishi
group, with its very broad business segments

technologies and capabilities to achieve
sustainable economic growth in India and

We started launch services in 2006, and we succeeded in launching eight rockets
continuously as follows: September, 2007, injection of Selenological and Engineering
Explorer "KAGUYA" into a circular lunar orbit by H-A 13, H-A 14 in February 2008,
H-A 15 in January 2009, H-A 16 in November 2009, H-A 17 in May 2010, H-A
18 in September 2010, H-A 19 in September 2011 and injection of the Information
Gathering Satellite Radar No.3 orbit by H-A 20 in December 2011. This resulted in
a launching success rate of an international standard of 95 since the first launch
of H-A No.1, and with this result, we will enhance our satellite launch services
operation in the future.

MRJ (Mitsubishi Regional Jet), a next-generation regional jet,

has been under development with our eyes on humanity and the environment.
The MRJ (Mitsubishi Regional Jet) family features 70-to-90-seat
class next-generation regional jets. By featuring state-of-the-art
aerodynamic design, noise analysis technologies and a game-
changing engine, the MRJ will realize a significant cut in fuel
consumption, noise, and emissions. In addition to its top-class
operational economy and environmental compatibility, the MRJ
features a four-abreast seat configuration, large overhead bins,
and also feature an innovative slim seat which offers
an outstanding cabin comfort unlike any other.

Airline Receives the First Delivery of
Boeing 787 Dreamliner
The first Boeing 787 (dubbed "Dreamliner"), the first passenger airliner to make full
use of composite materials for the main wing, was delivered to All Nippon Airways.
Co., Ltd (ANA) in September 2011, making the first step towards a new era in flight
travel. With our high technological capabilities and reliability, MHI has been nominated
as the first company to design and build such composite main wing box for passenger
airliner, and the first company for Boeing to award the supply contract of main wing
structure for it's airplane programs. We will continue to enhance our state-of-the-art
design and manufacturing technology, including the use of composite materials, and
establish ourselves as the world center of building main wings.
H-B/HTV
In January 2011, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) launched
the H-B rocket No.2 carrying "KOUNOTORI 2"the H- Transfer Vehicle No.2
(HTV2), which successfully docked with the International Space Station (ISS).
The new H-B rocket, based on the technology of the H-A, has achieved
major increases in its carrying capacity through enhanced rocket engine
propulsion power and larger satellite fairing. MHI is in charge of the
development of the HTV, which resupplies the ISS with experimental
equipment and other items. One HTV will be launched each year until 2015,
contributing to the global expansion into space.

Japanese experiment module "Kibo"
In the development and realization of "Kibo," a national project which has
taken more than 20 years, we have devoted our technology in many divergent
areas in order to ensure crew safety; countermeasures against collisions with
dust in the space, international technical adjustments concerning the
connection with the ISS, and total systems integration. We will strive for
realizing the dream to go to space.
