4. Chapter 6 of LWFC has an extended metaphor. What is an


extended metaphor ? Write a paragraph identifying the extended metaphor, using quotations to
describe how the metaphor connects to Tita in LWFC.( /3 K /3 I /1 C)

- Extended metaphor is when the author exploits a single metaphor or analogy in a


passage to create a comparison. An example would be the quote "unfortunately, she
had to admit that her own matches were damp and moldy.". The extended metaphor
compares tita's life to matches and she need to find the spark to ignite her match. In this
case, tita is not happy because her "life is damp and moldy" , ; she is in need to find
someone or something special to bring color into her life.
