Asean doesnt help Thailand Education

Introduction

ASEAN stand for Association of Southeast ASEAN Nations, it include 10 countries such as

Thailand, Myanmar, Brunei, Indonesia, Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore, Laos,

Malaysia. ASEAN established in 8 August 1967, at first they have only 5 countries. Nowadays,

ASEAN become more related to our life, it also change a lot of thing surrounding us. For example,

economics, environmental and culture. But it doesnt change any Thai education, there still student

with low performance, less english class and old teaching styles. Therefore ASEAN doesnt affect

Thailand education.

English is necessary

Nowadays, most of school in Thailand have less english class compare to other countries in

ASEAN. Most of people in Thailand english skill was quite low and only a few people can speak

english well. After research from ICEF Monitor website, the english language levels of Thai student

was unsatisfied. According to the National Institute of Educational Testing Service survey, the

Englishs score of Thai student is 28.43 out of 100 (Opportunities await foreign educational

providers, 2013). This show that Thai student have to study more english. Furthermore, the

average score of English in Thailand was very lower when compare with other countries in

ASEAN, which most of school in Thailand should have more english class. Moreover, in

Cambridge book say that only a few people in Thailand can speak english. According to the

Cambridge book only 27 percent of Thai people can speak english (Crystal, 2016). Mostly school in

Thailand only focus on grammar and get high score on the test instead of teaching how to using

english in daily life. For example, using english to talk with the foreigner or watch the movie

without read the subtitle. Besides, most of school in Thailand use thai teacher to teach english

instead of foreigner. Even ASEAN become more related to Thai people, most of them still cant

speak English very well. This show that Thailand should have more English class. After ASEAN the

average English score of Thailand is quite low and Most of Thai people still cant speak English

very well. This prove that ASEAN didnt make Thai education better.

Thai student are foolish

To begin with, Thailand student performance overall are very low compare to other

countries in ASEAN. Thailand is in 7th place from 10 countries even Laos are way better than

Thailand. Thailand average score of education has only 3.6 out of 7 compare with Singapore which

is 5.8 points. After research from uASEAN website, Thailand education was very unsatisfied.

According to Thailand government school more than 50 people in one class room, the system that

let student pass the class even they are fail and half of the student in class are sleeping (Thailand's

education system is the failure of ASEAN, n.d.). This is why there are lot of low quality student.

Nowadays, Thailand have too much student in one class so the teacher cant control all the student

in class. This is why there are lot of student sleeping in class room. Also, teacher doesnt care about

the student, they just let the student pass the class even they are fail so they dont have to do more

work. Because if the teacher have to make a new test for them. This explain that Thai student

overall performance are still low. Furthermore, in Thai Health Promotion Foundation show that

Thai student IQ was very low. According to Department of Mental Health, Thai student age around

6-15 have only 98.59 IQ which the standard was 100. This show that Thai student performance are

quite low (Thepkhamram, 2014). The average IQ of Thai student are very low compare with other

countries in ASEAN which show that Thai student performance are still low. After the ASEAN

Thailand still let student that fail passing the class and most of Thai student IQ are lower than the

standard. This prove that ASEAN doesnt help Thailand education.

Old teaching styles

Nowadays, Thailand still using old teaching styles which is underdeveloped compare to

other countries. Thailand still use the old educational system since 2010, this was the last time that

Thailand change there educational system. In Supreme Distribution website say that lot of Thai

teacher are lower the standard and the lesson doesnt useful in real life. According to Supreme

Distribution, mentioned that more than 50% of student will failed more than 3 subjects because

teacher are under the standard. Most of subject doesnt related in real life, Thailand teaching styles

are focus on memorize thing but doesnt focus on critical thinking (Chaisomparn, n.d.). This show

that Thailand should change teaching styles. Furthermore, lot of school in Thailand doesnt check

background information of teacher. Even they check they still doesnt worry too much about it.

Also, the subject that we learn everyday doesnt connect to our daily life such as mathematics. For

example, we study logarithms in math class but we never using it in real life. As mentioned

Thailand have to change teaching styles. However, even Thai student study a lot in school it still

doesnt help there education better. After research from Eduzones website, most of Thai student not

understand the lesson even they spend lot of time. According to PISA found that only 1% of Thai

student that professional on science in spite of student spend about 8 hours on the lesson. Also 74%

of Thai student cant read Thai even some of them can read but they still cant analyze it (Nichanan,

2014). This show that Thailand should change teaching styles. Also, most of Thai student spend a

lot of time in school which it doesnt help them understand better. Thai student still cant read Thai

because the teacher doesnt focus on them while there are kid. This explain that Thailand teaching

styles are very poor. In concluded, after the ASEAN Thailand still using old teaching styles. Also,

Thai student still spend most of time in the school, lot of subject are useless and Teacher are under

the standard which prove that ASEAN doesnt related to Thailand education.

Conclusion

After the ASEAN Thailand education doesnt seem better due to number of English class in

Thailand are still less. Also, Thai student overall performance are quite low and Thailand still using

old teaching styles. Studies from Cambridge and a survey from National Institute of Educational

show that most of Thai people are weak at English. In thai government school and Department of

Mental Health shows lot of student not concentrate in class and Thai student IQ are below the

standard. A research from PISA and Supreme Distribution mentioned that Thai student still doesnt

understand the lesson even they spend a lot of time and most of Thai teaching styles will focus on

memorizing thing not critical thinking. Overall, ASEAN doesnt help Thailand education is

important because lot of people believe that ASEAN are really help Thailand. This essays will

prove that all the thing that people believe are wrong and people should be consciousness while

receive information from the news.
