As the culminating event of the Walla Walla Symphonys 108th season, they will mount two, semi-staged

performances of Bizets complete opera Carmen. This opera, famous for its gorgeous music, is rich in
well-known melodies that have found homes in various television shows and films such as Sesame
Street, Family Guy, and the 2009 hit Disney/Pixar film, Up. If youre new or unsure about opera, this is a

Sensual, seductive, and one of the most popular operas of all time, Bizet's Carmen will raise the
temperature in Walla Walla this spring. The plot pivots around Carmen, a temptress who has the power
to seduce any man that suits her fancy. And that she does. Don Jos throws honor aside in pursuit of
Carmen but Carmen soon casts him off for the handsome and charismatic Escamillo. Jealousy and
passion seal Carmen's fate in one of opera's most memorable conclusions.

Ron Williams, of Shakespeare Walla Walla, and architect/dancer Raffaele Exiana will serve as Stage
Directors, overseeing lighting design and other dramatic elements, and Jeremy Mims will serve as the
rehearsal pianist. For your convenience, supertitles will be projected, delivering an English translation of
the French text. With over 160 performers, these performances will truly be the result of tremendous
collaboration!
