Our Planet Is Warming Up !

The greenhouse effect, contrary to general belief, is in fact a very necessary natural phenomenon. If the Earths atmosphere did not
keep in any of the heat we get from the sun, our planet would be far too cold for us, and for any animals and plants, to live. The
problem, however, is that pollution has changed the atmosphere in the last hundred years or so, and this has caused the greenhouse
effect to increase too much. The Earths climate is changing. According to a new report by a United Nations scientific group, the
Earths average temperature could rise as much as *6F in the next 100 years. This is a lot, considering that over the past 100 years,
the average temperature has risen only 1 F.

Another study was conducted by British researchers who used computer models to predict what will happen if global warming
continues. It shows that one million species of plants and animals are in danger of becoming extinct by the year 2050 if global
warming continues. The British team studied 1, 103 species in Australia, Brazil, Europe, Mexico and South Africa (about 20% of the
Earths land area). They say 37% of the worlds 14 million plant and animal species on Earth could be destroyed. And, they say, there
is new evidence that humans are to blame.

If we dont take serious measures to stop the rise in the temperature, in the future centuries the Earth will be too damaged. Eventually,
human life will be threatened, and people will be wondering why we did nothing to protect ourselves when we still could.
