IDEASPACE: A SEMINAR WORKSHOP ON IDEATION

IdeaSpace is an organization created to encourage young people to think and innovate

things. Basically by their name, they encourages us students to think of an idea. Idea that could
help our country, even if its just on a small little way. This was a two days seminar-workshop
held at the Academic Complex of College of Law for the 1 st day, and at Dimaporo Gymnasium
for the 2nd day.
On the first day, the seminar was focused on lectures and group activities. The
participants were handled by Mr. Dave Del Rodario. He speaks about the history of IdeaSpace,
its mission and vision, its ideals, and its goals and aspirations. But the main point of the seminar
was to motivate us to think of a solution to problem, in short, to help the people. The participants
were group according the problem theyve chosen, and they are given time to think of a solution.
After the allotted time comes the presentation of each of the groups. This serves as a practice for
our pitching completion for the next day. Everything on the first day went well.
On the 2nd day, the venue was change from Academic Complex to the Dimaporo
Gymnasium. This day will be the competition of each of the ideas of each groups. Before the
presentation, we went through another workshop. The participants were divided into four groups,
for the four categories to be lectured by different mentors. The activity went round robin after a
few minutes staying in the station, until the groups finishes the four stations of different
categories. At the end of the round robin came the elimination for the pitching competition. We
are given only 2 minutes to speak for our idea, and on the small time we have to present our idea
properly. Each mentor have to choose their top 2 teams in teach group, and the 8 teams from four
groups will proceed to the final round. Each of the top 8 teams were questioned by the judges, if
their ideas were feasible, if its competitive to the market, or if it could be made without a lot of
money spent. Among the 8 teams, the 3rd group wins, and qualify to the next round. The winning
group will be competing nationwide.
Our team didnt win, but our experience during the seminar and activities were worth
remembering. Maybe, the next time that ideas visits us, it will be the next big idea.
