**Notes: The "Decedents" column represents the total number of unique individuals. Deaths may occur from a
single opioid, or from multiple opioids, in combination with other medications/drugs (e.g. if a person dies of
codeine and fentanyl toxicity, the death will be included in both the codeine and fentanyl columns.)

The numbers provided for each type of opioid represent deaths where the drug was believed to be a direct
contributor to the death, either in isolation (e.g. a morphine death), or in combination with another opioid or
opioids. The numbers therefore do not commonly represent isolated morphine deaths or fentanyl deaths. As a
result, the sum of the numbers in the drug columns for a particular row is greater than the total number of unique
individuals provided in the decedents column.
