I.IntendedAudience
TheUniversitySupervisorandotherfacultyintheEDLDepartmentaretheintended
audienceofthisdocument.

II.PhilosophicalPerspective
WhileinthisinternshipIwillactasacatalystforchangeintheorganization.Iwillstrive
tomakeapositivedifferenceinthedistrictasawholeandleavetheprogramastronger,
moreeffectivedistrictleader.Whilecompletingthe180hoursrequiredofthisinternship
experienceandinmyfuturecareer,Iwilladheretotheconceptualframeworkby
demonstratingcompetence,socialjustice,andusingexperiencetobecomeabetterleader
onadailybasis.ThisspecificinternshipexperiencewilladdressthesevenEducational
LeadershipConsortiumCouncilStandards.

Iwillworkcloselywiththeschoolbusinessofficialandsuperintendenttoplantheentire
schoolbudget,theBOCESbudget,andtheadministrativebudget.Iwillattendallschool
boardmeetingsfromnowuntiltheendoftheyear.Iwillattendallbudgetmeetingswith
thedepartmentheads,schoolbusinessofficialandsuperintendent.Iwillalsomeetwith
teacherstodiscussandthenapproveordenytheirbudgetrequestsforthefollowingyear.
Iwillworkdirectlywiththecurriculumcoordinatorandteachersonresearchingand
orderingcurriculummaterialsthatwillbeuseddistrictwide,suchasIReady.My
overarchingprojectforthisinternshipwillbetolookatwheremoneyhasbeenspentin
ourdistrictinthepast,whereourneedsaremovingforwardandplanforthenextfive
years.

Thedistrictrecentlyhiredanewheadbusdriverandmainofficesecretary.Thesetwo
positionsworktogetherinordertomakesurebusroutesareorganized,wellthoughtout
andthatallstudentsareaccountedfor.Iwillworkdirectlywiththenewhirestohelp
themastheygettheirfeetwet.Iwillworkwiththemonpurchasing,planningofroutes,
hiringofdrivers,etc.

Thereasonthedistrictwasabletohireanewheadbusdriveristhatthepreviousone
chosetochangetobuildingsandgrounds.Iwillworkdirectlywiththispersonon
differentfacilitiesneeds.Iwillalsoworkwithhimthebusinessofficial,and
superintendentonplanningforacapitalprojectandonusingourSMARTbondmoney.

ThroughthisprogramIwillinsurethattheschoolcultureisonethatpromotesevery
studentslearningandthestaffsprofessionalgrowth.EachstudentattendingSherman
CentralSchoolwillbegivenanorganized,efficient,safe,andeffectivelearning
environment.Myofficewillprimarilyhandlealldistrictcommunicationwithfamilies
andthecommunity.Iwillactwithintegrityandfairnesseveryday.Iwillusethis
programtohelppromoteandinfluencethelargerpolitical,social,economic,legal,and
culturalcontexts.Thisinternshipwillguaranteemevastexperienceandpracticewithall
ofthestandardsmentioned.

III.ProgramDescriptions
ThisinternshipwilltakeplacethroughthemonthsofMarch,AprilandMay.Sherman
CentralSchoolhasastudentpopulationof415PK12students,allhousedinone
buildingandallunderthedirectionofoneprincipal.Thereareapproximately78
employees.Icurrentlyactasthesoleprincipalofthisdistrict.Schoolisinsessionfrom
7:50to3:05.SchoolBoardmeetingstypicallytakeplaceat5:30onMondayevenings.

V.MeansofEvaluation
IwillbeevaluatedusingtheCharlotteDanielsonMPPRRubrics.Thiscanbeprovidedif
needed.ThisisthesamerubricIamevaluatedusinginmycurrentposition.All
conferenceforms,publicrelationsmaterials,logs,meetingminutes,etc.willbeprovided
uponcompletionoftheinternship.Also,duetothefactthatIworkverycloselywiththe
superintendent,aswearetheonlytwoadministratorsinthedistricthewillbeinformally
evaluatingmeandcheckingmaterialsdaily.

VII.SummaryandConclusions
IntenyearstimeIhopetobeaSchoolSuperintendent.CurrentlyIamveryhappyinmy
roleasprincipal.Iamyoungandhavealongcareeraheadofmesomyambitionisto
becomeSuperintendent,hopefullyinShermanCentralSchoolDistrict.Thisinternship
willgivemerealworldexperienceworkingwithstaffinawaythatwillbenefittheentire
districtandcommunityofSherman.
