Conjunctions

Use conjunctions to connect two or more sentences that talk about


related ideas.
Subject + verb + +, + conjunction + subject + verb +

And -> add information


But -> contrast information
So -> draw conclusion
Or -> show option

Maria plays soccer in the afternoon, and she does her homework in the
evening.
Her friends went to the party, and they brought a cake for everyone.

Raul speaks English very well, but he doesnt speak any Spanish.
Her parents can cook pasta, but they cant cook rice.

My parents went out last night, so they are very tired this morning.
Batman was sold out, so we bought tickets for Spiderman.

We can watch a movie, or we can play a game.


The children have to finish their homework, or they will not be able to
play outside.

Exercise A: Complete with the correct conjunction.


1. My sister is a lawyer, ____ she can help us with this case.

Exercise B: Connect the sentences using the appropriate conjunction.


1. Carlos plays soccer. Carlos doesnt play tennis.
2. Her friends can go to the cinema. Her friends can go to the ice cream
store.
3. We need to buy groceries. We are going to the supermarket.
4. They have a printer at home. They can print this document.
5. Sharon is a very good singer. Andrea sings well, too.
