Challenge Assignment
1. Have your child create an emotional thermometer for
anxiety, sadness and anger. Examples are above. 2. At the end of each day, have your child use a post-it note to rate 2 several incidents from that day on each scale. For example, if the scale is anger, ask your child to identify 2 incidents that made him/her angry over the day and post the post-it notes on the correct thermometer temperature. Do the same for sadness and anxiety. 3. Leave the post-it notes on the scales until the next day. Remind your child of the post-it notes on several occasions throughout the day. 4. The underlying objective of this task is to have your child appreciate emotional gradations and various levels of emotional intensity.
