Under Threat of Deletion

When Donald Trump was elected President in November 2016, Federally employed
scientists and researchers became alarmed at the prospect of the new administration's
hostility towards the scientific evidence that executive branch departments and agencies had
accumulated and freely shared with the Public. Afraid of censorship by a new ultra-right wing
President, they began efforts to safeguard this data for the Public.

As their efforts progressed, once Trump was inaugurated it became clear their fears
were well founded. The first victim of this was the the Climate Change data on the US Forest
Service's site, deleted by Trump's transition landing team. More recently, animal abuse data
has been removed from the US Department of Agriculture's site.

In an effort to provide access to this deleted data, and as a safeguard against further
deletion of important publicly accessible data from other federal site's, I have compiled this list
of shortened, easy to remember bitlinks to archive.org's snapshots of 51 crucial federal
department's sites. Most are in the Executive Branch, but out of caution and apprehension at
what this new administration might attempt, I have included some others.

This is meant as a handy guide for those who suddenly can not find data they have
relied upon, being in a certain place on a federal site. It is a convenient fallback to be able to
find the missing data in a snapshot of the site via archive.org. The data may not always be
there, as there are limits to what they can crawl, but most departments have had many
snapshots taken, and there is a good chance You will be able to find what You are looking for
even after the new Republican administration has tried to keep this knowledge from You.

I tried to keep the bitlinks to the archived snapshots mnemonic enough to be easily
remembered, but just in case they aren't, I have compiled this list. Download it, save a copy,
and put it to good use.
