PROCEDURE:
4 Make on the input power supply to respective EMT 9 panel and check the
smooth control on output voltage of bridge using SP pot on EMT 9. If smooth control
on output is not observed (i.e if the lamp flickers) then inter change input L and N
wire on EMT 9 and again check the smooth control on output voltage.
5 Apply the same procedure for the terminals A and AA and Z and ZZ stator
terminal of 3 phase AC machine.
6 After checking smooth control, switch OFF all the 1 phase and 3 phase power
supply. Ensure switch on EMT-4A panel is at OFF position. Ensure SP pot on all EMT 9
panel are at CCW position.
7 Ensure feedback switch is at open position and P-PI switch is at ext position.
8 Ensure correct coupling between DC motor and 3 phase alternator. Also check
no hanging wires on any rotating part of the machine.
10 Now make both MCB ON from EMT 16A panel and SW1 switch on EMT 8
panel. These are the input to SCR Bridge on EMT 9(L) and EMT-(C) panel.
11 EMT-9(L) panel is used to supply field voltage to DC machine and EMT 9(c)
panel is used to supply armature voltage to DC machine.
12 Now rotate SP pot onEMT-9(L) panel to fully clockwise (CW). Observe 200V DC
on EMT 6B/2 panel. This is field supply to motor.
13 Now slowly rotate SP pot EMT 9 (C) panel and adjust it to get 3000 rpm speed
display on EMT - panel.
16 While increasing this stator voltage, observe generated line to line voltage on
EMT-34 panel and set it top 415V AC. This is generated 3 phase AC output. Also
adjust freq. to 50 HZ by adjusting speed of dc motor armature voltage control EMT-
9C(c) panel.
17 Now make the MCB ON from EMT-1 panel. Check all the three phase are
present indicated by R-Y-B indicators. Press START push button on it. This 3 phase
main supply gets connected to synchronizing panel EMT-26A/B.
18 now put the switch on EMT-4A panel at FWD position. The generated 3 phase
O/P gets connected to the synchronizing panel EMT-26A/B. if the motor makes noise
or you are not getting correct type of synchronization example different lamp
method then put the switch on EMT-4A panel at REV position. This switch operation
will correct the phase sequence of 3 phase alternator O/P and AC mains supply.
19 Observe the lamps on EMT-26B. Try to get steady state pattern of lamps. This
can be achieved by fine adjustment of armature voltage.
20 Once this constant pattern of lamp is adjusted put the synchronization switch
on EMT-26B panel at ON position. This will enable you to use common bus for
further load connections.
22 You can repeat the experiment by using another lamp methods. Wiring
schedule for the same is given in wiring sequence.
