At Forestbrook Middle School we believe that every student can be successful academically. Our EOC Scholars
Tutoring Program is an extra resource that will make a positive difference in your students grades and high
school GPA by supporting their learning in Algebra I.
Each year at Forestbrook Middle School, 8th grade mathematics honors students and 7th grade mathematics
accelerated students have the opportunity to take Algebra I for high school credit. To earn a South Carolina high
school diploma, students are required to pass a high school credit course in Algebra I. At the end of the Algebra I
course and to meet federal accountability requirements, students must take an EOC examination which counts
20 percent in the calculation of the students final grade. Students at Forestbrook Middle School will take the
EOC exam in Algebra I at the end of May. In order to best support these students on the exam, EOC Scholars
tutoring program will offer structured review of the Algebra I standards that students have been taught
throughout the year, as well as test preparation and practice needed in order to be successful on the exam.
EOC Scholars Tutoring Program will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday from 3:45 to 4:45, beginning
February 20, 2017. There is no cost for your student to attend our program, and the opportunities for success
are many. Bus transportation will be provided for participating students. To be considered for initial
enrollment signed and completed forms must be returned no later than February 13, 2017. Any
student that enrolls after the initial enrollment date must have a one week waiting period for bus
transportation to allow for district bus approval. Parents are responsible for picking their child up
during the first week of their enrollment.
We ask that students who participate in the EOC Scholars Tutoring Program attend every Tuesday and/or
Wednesday (see calendar page 2) to strengthen their skills and build continuity with their practice in order
to achieve their highest potential. Please do not hesitate to call us if you have any questions, comments, or
concerns. (236-7300).
