I. Consider the reaction: SO3(g) + NO(g) NO2(g) + SO2(g)

a. In a 2.00 L reaction container at 298.15 K, there are initially 1.00 mol SO3 and 1.00 mol NO. At
equilibrium, 0.650 mol SO3 remained unreacted. Determine the equilibrium constant of the reaction.
b. Determine the equilibrium concentrations of all species if, initially, there are 1.00 mol SO3, 1.00 mol NO,
1.00 mol NO2, and 1.00 mol SO2 in the system.
c. Determine the equilibrium concentrations of all species if the system in letter (b) was transferred to a
container with thrice the initial volume. Express in 5 significant figures.
d. Determine the new equilibrium concentrations of all species in (a) if, after reaching equilibrium, 1.00
mol of SO2 gas was added. Express in 5 significant figures.
e. Determine the new equilibrium concentrations of all species in (d), if, after reaching equilibrium, 0.500
mol of NO was added to the system. Express in 5 significant figures.

II. A solution of sodium hydroxide was standardized using potassium acid phthalate (KHP; 204.2 g/mol). 0.250
grams of KHP was dissolved in 50.00 mL distilled water. The resulting solution was titrated with 15.45mL the
prepared sodium hydroxide until a phenolphthalein endpoint is reached.
a. Determine the concentration of NaOH used to titrate the KHP solution.
b. 10.00 grams of a crude sample containing C6H5NH3Cl was dissolved in 100.00 mL distilled water. A
20.00 aliquot of this solution was titrated with 13.5ml of the standardized sodium hydroxide solution
until the pale pink phenolphthalein endpoint was reached. The reaction involved is :

C6H5NH3+(aq) + OH-(aq) C6H5NH2(aq) + H2O

a. Determine the concentration of anilinium chloride (C6H5NH3Cl) in the solution.

b. Determine the mass of anilinium chloride in the sample.
c. Determine the percent anilinium chloride by mass in the sample.
