Remzi Ylmaz is a 17-year-old designer with autism who lives in Ankara. His work
has been turned into a brand, Remo, by his older brother, Tayfun Ylmaz.

Remzi Ylmazn bir gn nasl geiyor?
T: Remzi sabah kalkyor ve ilk i olarak

hediye olarak srt antasna yerletiriyor.
Okula gidiyor. Seramik ve izim yapyor. Eve
geldiinde ise geiyor kanepesine ve her Pazar
gn gittii seramik atlyesi ncesi, izimlerine
devam ediyor.
Remzi Ylmaz ka yandan beri iziyor?
T: Remzinin dncelerini izimle tam
olarak ifade etmeye balamas, bundan sekiz
sene nceye, annemizle gittii bir misafirlie
dayanyor. Remzi sklyor ve eline kt
kalemini alp izmeye balyor. Sonra Remzi
izimi hi brakmyor.

R: Bakkala gidiyorum. Kpeimiz Guliye
mama veriyorum. Aabeyimle bazen gece
darya kyorum. Cumartesi geleneim,
babamla en ok sevdiim alveri merkezine
gidip hamburger yemek. Annemle eitli
sergilere de gidiyorum. Yaknda da Pegasusla
aabeyimi ziyarete Osloya gideceim.
Heyecanlym.

Okul nasl gidiyor?
R: Gzel gidiyor! ok ders var ama ben ok
alyorum. Cansel adnda bir retmenim
var. Okuldan eve gelince onunla ders
alyorum ve snavlara hazrlanyorum.

What does a day in the life of Remzi Ylmaz
look like?
T: Remzi gets up in the morning and makes
himself a lovely glass of orange juice before
anything else. Then he picks out something of his
from home to bring to his girlfriend at school and
puts it in his schoolbag as a gift. He goes to school,
works on ceramics and drawing. When he comes
home, he sits on his couch and continues to draw
in preparation for the ceramics workshop he
attends every Sunday.
How old was Remzi when he first began to
draw?
T: His use of drawing to express himself began just
eight years ago. He was accompanying our mother
on a visit, and Remzi got bored, so he picked up a
pen and paper and started to draw and he hasnt
stopped drawing since.

Remzi?
R: I go to the market. I feed our dog Guli.
Sometimes I go out in the evening with my
brother. On Saturday, I have a tradition that I go
with my father to eat a hamburger at my favourite
shopping centre. I go to different exhibitions with
my mother. Soon Im going on Pegasus to visit my
brother in Oslo. Im excited.
Youre studying at the Fine Arts High
School. How is that going?
R: Its going really well! There are a lot of classes,
but Im working very hard. I have a teacher named
Cansel, and when I come home from school, I have
a private lesson with her. Im preparing for the
university entrance exam. But the best part about the
