BASIC PRODUCTIVITY TOOLS: SPREADSHEETS, WORD TEMPLATE, NARRATED POWERPOINT

Name: Beth Miller

Grade Level: 4th Grade
Content Area: Science
Basic Productivity Tool Used: Narrated PowerPoint
Standards Addressed:
S4E3. Students will differentiate between the states of water and how they relate to the water cycle
and weather.
a. Demonstrate how water changes states from solid (ice) to liquid (water) to gas (water
vapor/steam) and changes from gas to liquid to solid.
b. Identify the temperatures at which water becomes a solid and at which water becomes a
gas.
c. Investigate how clouds are formed.
d. Explain the water cycle (evaporation, condensation, and precipitation).
e. Investigate different forms of precipitation and sky conditions. (rain, snow, sleet, hail,
clouds, and fog).
Blooms Level of Critical Thinking:
Remembering Understanding Applying Analyzing Evaluating Creating
Description of how to implement in the class:
Students will use their knowledge they have learned during their lesson unit about water, and apply
it to creating an e-book/narrated PowerPoint using Microsoft PowerPoint. Students will be provided
instruction by the teacher through modeling each step and demonstrate what is to be expected. Once
it is understood on the directions, students will be allowed to choose their topic, based upon anything
they have learned though the water system.

They will be assessed on accuracy of facts and details, as well as it containing all the elements
expected to be present: pictures, text, narration. Students will be encouraged to be creative and
thoughtful when completing their projects.

If students need assistance, they will be provided with the teacher assistance, as well be allowed to
research their topic using any available Instructional Software such as BrainPop or netTrekker.
If students finish their work early, they will be allowed to edit their PowerPoint project with
transitions and animations.
Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi):
This would resemble a level 3-4 LoTi level as the students are given a choice on the topic of their
product. They can use any aspect of the lesson unit on water they want to focus on. The students are
also applying their knowledge and understanding and creating a product through a PowerPoint
project.
Description of the Narrated PowerPoint: The Narrated PowerPoint that is being modeled is based
upon the 3 stages of water: solid, liquid, and gas. It is just a basic design to demonstrate how to
complete the assignment.
Other comments about your proposed Narrated PowerPoint: Students who choose to do their
Narrated PowerPoint on the 3 stages of water will also need to include how they are changed to meet
with the standard.
