Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key Questions):

6. Once the students are divided into groups the teacher will then
provide each student with an individual number cards from 0-20
which are shuffled. The teacher will explain that the students need
to find a space in which they need to correctly order the cards from

The teacher can also have another set of cards this time with the
number written in words in which the students have to order, from

cards must leave the cards and go and stand outside the

press the button to hear the number and sort through the
stack of cards to find the correct number. When you have
found the correct number you must hold it up and the over

to their area and on the count of three, take the recording
peg and listen to the number and find it within their pile of
cards. The teacher will keep a tally on the board as to
which team is winning.
15. The teacher will repeat this nine more times until they tell
the partners to switch roles and re-explain the rules if
need be.
16. The Teacher will then repeat this ten more times until all
numbers from 0-20 have been called.

Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students

17. Students will be asked to return the material to the front of
the classroom and asked to sit on the mat.
18. The teacher will then reward the pair that won the last
activity.
19. The teacher will then ask the students to count backwards
starting from 20 and ending at 0.

Assessment: (Were the lesson objectives met? How will these be

judged?)
- Observe children while working as a group and responding to
questions
- The teacher will supervise groups while they are completing the
activity.
- The teacher will use photographs to later assess a childs
understanding of the order of 0-20.

- These photos will be taken during the first part of the lessons
where students have to order the numbers 0-20 and will be used
as guide to the childs understanding and knowledge.
- Next lesson will focus on what students have learnt, what
needs to be retaught and an extension. e.g., moving on to
numbers from 20-40.
