Good Afternoon 2nd grade families,

a.m. & p.m.

I hope you had a restful weekend. The kids vertical

had a great time on the 100th Day of School. I horizontal

absolutely LOVED their capes! February is African symmetry

American History Month. We have spent time learning about

fought for civil rights and equality. We will be creating a Freedom moral

Quilt in class at the end of the month so the students will have a determine

project to complete over the next week that shouldn't take too cause and effect

much time at all. The information will be sent home with your apostrophe

Valentines Day is tomorrow! As a reminder I typically do not have topic sentence

a party, but we will have time in the afternoon to pass out supporting details

valentine cards. I suggest having your child bring in a decorated closing statement

box or bag tomorrow to hold their valentines. If your child is

What We are learning this week: 3/8 Picture Day


3/10 Dress Down Day

We have been reading different types of folktales comparing t wo different versions of the same fable or
folktale. In grammar have been learning about adjectives that compare and are now moving on to adverbs.
We have been writing opinion pieces and are still learning to develop a strong topic sentence for our
supporting details. In Math we have been learning about counting money and will begin learning about
telling time to the quarter hour. In Science began our new PLTW unit on weather and the water cycle. In
Social Studies we will be learning about the importance of Presidents Day and will work on a biography
project to celebrate the accomplishments of African Americans for African American History Month.
