Translation is a linguistic activity that takes place between at least

two languages the first language is called the source sl and the
second is called the second language tl.
To translate is transfer the meaning in the sl into the target
language as accurate as possible especially when it comes to the
translation of the divine books such as quran.
Quran is the miracle of Allah given to our prophet Mohammed Ibn
Abdialla because it has a lot of challenges which human can never
come up with such as the linguistic miracle.
As far as we know that one of the most common challenges in
translating quran into English is the translation of the polysemic
and homonymous words which appear to be the same in their
forms but partially completely different in their senses (meanings).
So, the translators face a lot of problems due to this ambiguity or
the mistranslate the quranic polysemic and homonymous words
into their accurate equivalent words or expressions in english. The
researcher has been working on translation for about more than
four years and from the experience, he has found that it is a
demanding task to translate the polysemic and homonymous
words as they have some implied meanings such as cultural,
associative, structural or contextual meaning. Tafseers of quran are
deadly needed and must be approached and resorted to for
knowing the meaning of these polysemic and homonymous words
even by the native speakers of quran.
Some people undoubtfully read such repeated words, considering
them as they have the same meaning. Such lexical items are
known as homonymy or polysemy.
