BUWAN NG WIKA CELEBRATION 2K16

Joyland School commemorated the annual Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa last August
25 to 26 at Joyland Schools quadrangle. This year's theme Filipino: Wika ng
Karunungan, served as a guideline for the different activities held, including poster-
making, speaking contests, cultural dancing, native singing and slogan-making.

The Buwan ng Wika is an annual celebration that highlights our Filipino language.
Both departments, the high school and elementary, enjoyed the activities and
competitions which were prepared by the Filipino Club Officers with the help of their
club advisers. The officers also set up a program full with performances. Joyland
School invited Mrs. Bessie Querra, a retired master teacher of San Fabian National
High school to be the guest of honor and speaker. She delivered her speech about
the importance of Filipino as our national language. Afterwards, she together with
Tchr. Devora Casipit led the induction of the Filipino Club Officers both elementary
and secondary levels.

The program centers the awarding of sashes and trophies to the winners of the
Lakan and Lakambini competition. The funds collected in the said contest will be
used for buying a new projector, helpful in terms of coping up lessons with the use
of videos and e-books.

The Celebration highlights linguistic and cultural activities. It aims to use our
national language as an instrument of bringing peace and encourage our
countrymen to give values to Filipino as a national language of unity. It also
intensifies the importance of Wika in our daily lives as a mode of communication.
All in all, it was fun, exciting and also tiring. There were a lot of things to do, a lot of
problems to handle, a lot of time management to make in order for them to win
those said competitions. At the end of the day, it was successful and amazing. The
