Self-Analysis Paper COM115

Objectives:

To encourage critical self-reflection over personal growth as a public speaker and the following areas:
o Research and preparation
o Organizational abilities
o Delivery skills
o Public speaking anxiety

Upon completion of your course work, you are to write a self-analysis paper reflecting on your overall growth and
progression throughout the class thus far. Use the following discussion prompts as starting points.

1. How do you think you have grown the most in presenting? Be specific. In what areas do you feel you have
become stronger and more confident?
2. Identify two to three areas that you think you still need to work on in public speaking, message creation, etc.
Again, be specific and give examples as to how you might improve in these areas in the future.
3. What has been most helpful to you in the class? What do you think you will be able to take with you and apply
to speaking situations, future classes, or your professional career?

While reflecting on your progress throughout the course, refer back to comments on graded rubrics, peer evaluations,
and your four presentation experiences. Simple/short answers to these prompts will not be sufficient in generating
valuable self-reflection. Aim for a minimum of one paragraph (5-7 sentences) per question. You must provide detailed
support for what you say in your paper. I am looking for a thorough, honest, and critical personal evaluation. Often, it is
through self-reflection that we learn the most about ourselves.
