Q1) Based on your result of leadership instrument from chapter 2 describe your traits.

Articulate: I rate myself very high on being articulate have good communication skills, I am very
specific and clear about what I want and how I want it with great fluency. I am very sure about
my own opinions but I am also supportive and open to criticism. As an extrovert being articulate
is a part of my personality and I can be both persuasive and motivating when need arises.

Perceptive: I am quite insightful as the eldest child I have always been the one responsible of my
actions and have always been aware of what consequences it would lead to. Similarly at a very
young age my family underwent serious financial crises our business got bankrupt and my father
had to liquidate all the assets a start afresh. This was a life turning event which led to maturity
and I started foreseeing and understanding things from a different perspective.

Self-confident and self-assured: I am quite self-assured and well aware of my potential. In my

conversations I have a direct approach I make adequate eye contact, and my posture is very
proper. I dont have any fear of speaking my mind or taking or giving criticism. As the eldest
child my opinion was always heard and valued which has given me the strength I required.

Persistent: I can be persistent enough especially when I want something very badly or I want
something my way. I dont lose focus and always set my priorities and course of action, however
have given in in situations where I believe it may lead to a dispute.

Determined and persistent: I have great determination speaking strictly on personal grounds
when I decide to perform a task I do it not letting anything deviate me from the course I have
taken be it a certain diet or a certain exercise regime, or related to my studies. However I believe
that I am flexible and less determined when it involves other people due to my ability to
empathize. Similarly I may lose determination when people do not agree to my viewpoint but
very rarely.

Trustworthy and dependable: I am a very trustworthy and dependable person my friends and
family confide in my with little care and know that I will stand with and for them when needed ,
therefore I am quite dependable.

Friendly and outgoing: being an extrovert a major quality in my personality I am impressionable

and friendly I support and value others. I am very receptive and believe in trust and mutual
respect. I also believe in the philosophy that it is what you bring into a relationship is what
strengthens it. I am outgoing and very comfortable in public and build relationships easily.

Conscientiousness: I am not very controlled and organized I am a good planner and executioner
but I am mostly spontaneous and act on impulse.

Diligent: I am very hardworking and goal oriented I always fulfill my commitments and have
always put it great effort in what i do, I am thorough which is reflected in the tasks I perform and
somewhat of a perfectionist i will rather not do something but when I take over a task I will
perform up to my level best.

Sensitive and emphatic: I am very sensitive and can often read into situations better than
others. My sensitivity has enabled me to understand others and treat them the way they expect to
be treated. I am tactful and can gain trust and motivate others. I build strong relationships with
others since I can sympathize and empathize with the in different situations. I listen, I support
and accept others the way they are.

Q2) Discuss your traits with you close friend/ dad and come up with the final list?

According to my father I possess most of the traits enlisted but need to work and polish some of
them further to enhance my leadership skills. He said that I am very articulate and perceptive but
I lack self confidence in certain situations. I am confident only around people I am comfortable
with otherwise I take time to gather myself and build my momentum and equilibrium. He said
that I am persistent but a good leader is more focused and continues with his work despite all sort
of impediments and hurdles that he encounter. My father stated that indeed I am determined
trustworthy and dependable I am an optimist and always will see the brighter side of each
situation and have the capacity and capability to comeback therefore I am strength within myself
and people around me can rely on my metal. He agreed that I rate high on being friendly and
outgoing to a fault. However he was of the opinion that I am impetuous and tends to be very
disoriented and disorganized. I need to focus more on planning and accomplishing the tasks in
hand in a more organized manner while my current practices are more haphazard and random.
Similarly his view on diligence was opposite to mine he said that although I am not a quitter I am
not as hardworking as much as I should, he said that a lot of people have potential but one has to
strive and struggle to a make a mark. He rated me very highly on sympathy and empathy and
mentioned its a good thing to be care for others.

Q3) Pick one trait that you do not have and want to develop. What is your opinion on how that
trait can be developed?

The trait the I would want to develop and further build upon is conscientiousness as it is believed
that great leaders demonstrates effective leadership skills, but most importantly, continue to
improve themselves in every possible way. The person who thinks he is an expert, has a lot more
to learn. Therefore one should be receptive of their shortcomings and work to change them. In
order to develop this trait I need to set priorities, stream line things, curb impulsiveness, be
thorough.
