Introduction: (5min)
Introduce myself and set the expectations for behaviour management.
Introduce the lesson on creating a PowerPoint presentation on an Australian reptile.
Advise the students that there is a Task assigned to their ICT class, being the PowerPoint presentation.
Advise students this task will only need to be done at school on the school computer.

Body: (37min)
(20mins)
Teacher Who in the class has used a PowerPoint program?
What was it used for?
Who here knows how to save a file on the computer? Explain when you have saved a file on the computer? (The student will
demonstrate this by saving a word file to the desktop of the classroom computer). I will go back over how to save the file to
the classroom computer for those who have never saved a file. The teacher will repeat this step in the computer lab when the
students have their computer in front of them.
TASK SHEET Teacher will put the task sheet up on the board. Teacher will go over the task with the students, answering any
question they may have.
Teacher will check for students understanding of the task, through questioning?
POWERPOINT teacher will close the task sheet and open their PowerPoint. This will demonstrate to the students the
expectation of the task.
Teacher will go through each slide linking this back to the task sheet and outlining the information required in each slide.
(17mins)
Teacher I have provided one example of a reptile, now you will come up with a list of different reptiles that may be used.
Students will work in their elbow buddy, or in a group of three, to come up with as many reptiles they can think of in 2mins).
If they have provided common names, the Teacher will ask the students to provide more specific names. For example
Crocodiles, there are two different species of crocodiles in Australia (that live in the wild) they are fresh water and salt water.
Students will do the same with snakes, turtles and lizards.
Teacher put the list of reptiles on the board for students to look at.
Students will need to advise Mr Brown of their reptile prior to next weeks lesson. Mr Brown will have the list for students if
they cannot think of one. If you have not seen Mr Brown before next week, he will allocate you a reptile to investigate.

Conclusion: (8mins)
Recap the lesson on saving a file and making a PowerPoint.
Check for understanding by asking the students about the task. What is the task? When do they have to have their reptile to
Mr Brown? How many slides do they have to make? What information do you need to have on each slide? Write answers on
the whiteboard.
Advise I will put the task up on the window so they dont forget and can show their parents.

Assessment: Nil. Observations will be made.

Feedback:

Follow up lesson: Students will be in the computer room so the next lesson will be recapping the previous lesson, with students
