Sheldon Community Schools & Northwest Iowa Community College (Sheldon, IA)
Industrial Arts Instructor August 2013 to Current
At Sheldon High School I overhauled the shop program to bring current technology into
the classroom including the implementation of an engineering track. Classes use
Solidworks, CNC machines, and 3D printers to problem solve real world engineering
projects.
In charge of starting Northwest Iowa Community Colleges new Career Academy in
Orange City, IA. Courses taught include; Alternative Energy, Architecture, Introduction
to Technology, Engineering, and Computer Animation and Graphics using Blender
Software.
Responsible for researching and applying for STEM courses. I was trained and taught
many different STEM courses such as; KidWind, TEN80, and VREP (Hyperstream).
All Engineering courses taught use Solidworks, CNC machines, and various types of 3D
printers using a variety of media.
Involved with CTE Advisory Committee, Technology Committee, and Safety Committee.
Model Teacher Position as well as AP courses instructor.
Work with local industry to find out what skills are wanted from our students and what
current technology is being used. Also work with companies to get real-world projects
that they are working on so our students are able to work on these projects in our
classroom.

Total overhaul of shop program including new curriculum and innovative programs.
Specialize in construction and woodworking; in 2011 expanded our shop program to
include Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn Schools adding small engines and welding.
Involved with advisory committee, Project EASIER, Perkins allocations, Programs of
Study, Building Advisory Committee, and School Improvement Committee
Classes taught involve the use of up to date hand tools, various power tools, welders,
CAD programs, and CNC machines.
