35. Los resultados encontrados en este estudio son coincidentes con los
observados por Kunz y col. (1985) y opuestos a los de Grum y col. (1996),
quienes encontraron altos valores de T3 en el perodo seco, con una cada en
los das posteriores al parto, para luego aumentar levemente, lo que
segn Slebodzinski (1991) sera debido al dficit energtico que se presenta
al inicio de la lactancia y al paso de hormonas a la glndula mamaria.
PeroTiirats (1997) no encontr diferencias estadsticamente significativas en
los niveles de T3 entre vacas en perodo seco y vacas al inicio de la
lactancia.
36. Varios autores sealan que las concentraciones sanguneas de T4 en vacas
lecheras (Hart y col., 1978; Ropstad y col., 1989; Grum y col.,1996) y
cabras (Riis y Madsen, 1985), al inicio de la lactancia se encuentran
deprimidas, incremen-tando sus niveles a medida que sta
avanza. Heitzman y Mallinson (1972), Hart y col. (1978) y Grum y col.
(1996) sealan que las concentraciones de T4 durante el perodo seco
(preparto) fueron significativamente ms altas que al inicio de la lactancia.
Nuestro estudio no revel diferencias (p>0.05) entre grupos de vacas.
37. Sin embargo, es dificil atribuir las variaciones plasmticas de hormonas
tirodeas a un factor especfico, ya que son numerosos los factores que estn
involucrados, entre ellos cabe destacar: genticos (Bitman y col., 1984), el
nmero de lactancias (Leirer, 1981), la produccin lctea (Walsh y col.,
1980), la alimentacin, condiciones climticas (Johnson y Vanjonack, 1975)
y factores teraputicos como hormonas, sulfonamidas, analgsicos,
fenilbutazona y clorpromazina (Bekeoba y col., 1982; Cunningham, 1992).
38. Finalmente, cabe sealar que los resultados de este estudio permiten
entregar, con el mtodo utilizado, valores referenciales de T3 y T4 para
posteriores estudios de la actividad tirodea en vacas a pastoreo.
39. RESUMEN
40. Con el objeto de conocer las concentraciones sanguneas de Triyodotironina
(T3) y Tiroxina (T4) en vacas lecheras en el sur de Chile, se seleccionaron
110 muestras de sangre de vacas Frison Negro, 55 pertenecian a vacas al
inicio de lactancia y 55 a vacas en el perodo final de gestacin. Las
muestras de sangre fueron obtenidas por puncin yugular o coccgea en
tubos heparinizados. El plasma obtenido por centrifugacin fue mantenido a
-20 C hasta el anlisis. Las concentraciones de T3 y T4 fueron medidas por
radioinmunoensayo, utilizando los reactivos Coat-a-Count total T3 para
Triyodotironina y Coat-a-Count total T4 para Tiroxina (Diagnostic Products
Corporation, DPCR). La significancia estadstica, entre medias de grupos, fue
establecida por el test de Student, considerandose significativo un valor de
p<0.05.
41. Se concluye que las concentraciones sanguneas de Tiroxina (T4) y
Triyodotironina (T3) en vacas Frison Negro son de 41.111.6 nmol/l y
1.40.43 nmol/l respectivamente. Las concentraciones de T4 estn bajo el
rango y las de T3 en el rango de referencia que seala la literatura,
utilizando el mismo procedimiento analtico. Las concentraciones de T3
fueron significativamente (P< 0.05) mayores en las vacas en lactancia que
en las vacas al final de la gestacin y no se observaron diferencias
significativas en las concentraciones de T4, en relacin al estado fisiolgico.
