A is for Abigail

Abigail had an affair with John Proctor.

She is also Reverend Parriss niece.

She was also the main cause of people


getting falsely accused.

I saw Goody Sibber with the devil (ACT 1)


B is for Books
When Reverend Hale came to
look at Betty to figure out what is
wrong with her, John Proctor
offered to carry all of Hales
books for him. Hale said that his
books were full of wisdom.
C is for Confessions

There were many confessions in the the story of witch craft.


For example many of them confessed just to stay alive and
not die.
D is for (Judge) Danforth
Danforth is the judge in the court house

He is also a Deputy Governor

He thinks that he is doing the right thing by


trying to make kick witchcraft out.

You must understand, sir, that a person is


either with this court or he must be counted
against it, there be no rodad between. This is
a sharp time, now, a precise timewe live no
longer in the dusky affronts when evil mixed
itself with good and befuddled the world. Now,
by Gods grace, the shining sun is up, and
them that fear not light will surely praise it.

E is for Elizabeth Proctor
Elizabeth Proctor was married to
John Proctor.

She also got pregnant towards the


end of the book, that why she wasnt
able to be hung at the end of the
play.

She also already has 3 boys with


John Proctor.

He have a goodness now. God


forbid I take it from him (ACT 4)
F is for Fear

Many people in the


crucible feared of being
accused of witch craft.

Or they feared of being


hung, or even pressed
to death.
G is for Giles Corey

Giles Corey was pressed to


death which in the play he
wouldnt give in and he declared
for more weight to be put on.

He was married to Martha Corey.


H is for Hale
Reverend John Hale is a minister that is an
expert dealing with witchcraft and he was called
to come examine Betty and Ruth.

He also hates witchcraft because he thinks that


it is a terrible thing.

Man remember, until an hour before the Devil


fell, God thought him beautiful in Heaven (ACT
2)
I is for Illness

Betty the daughter of Reverend Parris gets an illness that


people think may be witchcraft.

Also Ruth Putnam daughter of the Putnams also gets the


same illness as Betty.

This happens after some of her friends and her were


caught in the forest dancing
J is for John Proctor
John Proctor is married to Elizabeth
Proctor.

They have 3 boys and at the end


of the story Elizabeth gets
pregnant.

He had an affair with Abigail Williams


K is for Knitting

Mary Warrens knitted a doll for Elizabeth Proctor


while she was in court.

That doll caused some problems because


Mary had left a needle in the doll and Abigail
had used a needle to stick in herself to make it
look like that Elizabeth Proctor tried to kill her.
L is for Lies

Many people in lied in Salem to


get out of witch craft and to also
get out of being hung.

Basically you had to lie to not get


hung. Most times if you told the
truth you got hung.
M is for Martha Corey

Martha Corey was Giles Corey 3rd wife.

Her reading habits led her to arrest

And also to conviction of witchcraft


N is for Naked

While the girls were in the forest dancing with


Tituba.

Mercy took off her clothes and danced naked.


O is for Overthrow

John Proctor wanted to overthrow the court.

The court got mad at him and didnt believe he


was telling the truth so they sentenced him.
P is for Pregnant

Elizabeth Proctor at the end of the story got pregnant with


John Proctor.

That made it so that she wasnt able to be hung because


she was pregnant.
Q is for Quitting

Hale said the he wanted to quit and not be a


part of the court any more because he thought
that the court wasnt fair.
R is for Reverend Parris

Reverend Parris is Abigail uncle.

He is the minister of Salems church.


S is for Salem

Salem, Massachusetts

The witch trials started


here.
T is for Tituba
Tituba was was the one to lead Abigail and her
friend in the forest to dance, but then they got
caught. Tituba was the first one to confess about
working with the Devil, and all the girls followed
her.

She was also Reverend Parris slave.

She was from the Barbados


U is for Unfair

Most of the trials in Salem were unfair and not


throughly thought out at all.

They liked to make it so that people would get


hung.
V is for Vengeance

Abigail wanted to get vengeance on Elizabeth.

She said that Elizabeth stabbed her in the


stomach with a needle.
W is for Whore

John Proctor called Abigail a whore while they


were in court.

How do you call from Heaven! Whore!


Whore! (ACT 3)
X is for Extreme killing

During the witch trials


many people were
getting hung, jailed
or pressed. For
example Giles Corey
got pressed to death.
Y is for Youth

Betty Parris and Ruth Putnam had a big impact on


witch craft in the beginning of the story because
they were sick from dancing in the forest so many
people thought they were cursed with witchcraft.
Z is for Drizzle

It was drizzling out when John Proctor and Abigail


stood outside while they had a deep conversation.
