Abstract
In now a day, Fuel theft is increasing issue in vehicles. It affects on a financial loss. To avoid this we are implementing a
wireless fuel level monitoring system. This system uses Hall Effect sensor & GSM modem. Hall effect sensor is for sensing the
amount of fuel filled in the vehicle and amount of fuel consumed. In this system owner get information about content of fuel in
tank through PIC 18F458. The system includes Microcontroller, GSM module, LCD and a keypad. The fuel level sensor will
continuously monitor the fuel level if there is drastic change in the fuel level then sensor give particular signal to the
microcontroller and user get information through microcontroller in text format. This smart system gives 24x7access to fuel
consumption, alerts when there is sudden decrease in fuel level of tank.

I. INTRODUCTION

Currently almost of the public having an own vehicle, but with rising prices of oil fuel theft has become a very common
incidence. Fuel theft can be happened in any place such as on parking and sometimes driving insecurity places. The security of
fuel is essential for public vehicles. In order to get this we are implementing GSM based Wireless fuel monitoring system .This
system has application in car, bikes and all other type of vehicles. This system has DC motor which is used to measure the speed
of vehicle with the help of Hall Effect sensor and information sends to the owner in text format through GSM modem.
In this system we have use level sensor to detect the petrol level in tank. If the level goes below certain level then this sensor
gives a particular signal to microcontroller. When vehicle start there is a rate of flow petrol which shows fair use of petrol. Fair
level of petrol and graspic change of petrol level which we measure using level sensor Ease of Use. Fair level of petrol and
graspic change of petrol level which we measure using level sensor. If there is large change in petrol level, so this information is
given to vehicle owner with the help of GSM.

II. MICROCONTROLLER

PIC (Peripheral Interface Controller) is an 8 bit Microcontroller used in this system and it is the heart of the overall system.
PIC18F458 series controller used here seems to be efficient for monitoring fuel level. The proposed design uses PIC micro-
controller. It is a low power controller,in this system PIC18F458 accepts signal from sensor and send command to send SMS. It
has ability to be programmed using different commands. And it is also used for -
To read the signal from the ignition key.
To calculate the variation in liquid level.
To send SMS when there is change in liquid level.

IV. LCD DISPLAY

Alphanumeric displays are used in wide range of applications. In our system 16x2 LCD is interface with the microcontroller. It
displays different parameter such as speed of vehicle, fuel level of vehicle.

GSM Modem:

Fig. 2:

GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) is a digital mobile telephony system used to send short text messages. This is a
wireless system with no limits to distance. During intrusion SMS is sent to the predefined number through the GSM. We are
used GSM 900 modem in this project. GSM modem is used to send messages to the owner of the car or bike. We have to insert a
GSM SIM card into this GSM modem. Microcontroller sends the commands for sending SMS to the GSM modem. Whenever
petrol theft is going on user will get SMS and user can rush to the bike or car to check the safety of bike.

Liquid Level Sensor:

This is an important block which continuously, if there is any drastic change in level of fuel in tank it sense the change and send
signal to the controller PIC 18F458. This liquid level sensor can be used for any type of liquid. So it can be used for petrol as
well as diesel or in some cases it can be used for water level detection as well.

Hall Effect Sensor:

In this system Hall effect sensor measures the rotation of DC motor with the help of small magnet chip which is attach near to
the DC motor. As per the each rotation sensor will sense the magnetic field and send information of speed of DC motor to the
PIC 18F458 in the form of signal and microcontroller converts the signal from sensor and send the command to send SMS to the
owner.

V. ADVANTAGES

Secured access to fuel tank.

Graspic change in the fuel tank is immediately detected.
Information of balance of fuel remaining in the tank.
No need of any human attention.

VI. FUTURE SCOPE

We can implement this system using GPS For tracking the location of particular Vehicle.
We can provide voice feedback system.
We can add vibration sensor to the car or Bike. In case when the bike or car locked and somebody is try to open the door or open
the bike lock then vibration will be Produced and vibration sensor can sense this vibrations and turn on the buzzer.

VII. CONCLUSION

Due to rising price of fuel, fuel theft has become very common incidence. Our project is very useful for a common man as it
avoids him by getting cheated. Whenever there is large decrease in fuel level in tank the system is activated giving the owner the
precise indication of fuel content and speed of the vehicle. The system will help to owner of vehicle to get the information about
fair level of fuel in tank with the speed of vehicle.
