Hello Jim,
Just a short note to tell you about the Oak Brook
Ill, outside Chicago, AACA Show on Saturday,
September 10, 2011.
I went for my Senior National Award and was
successful. It was a great show and we were
very proud to compete. I think what made the
day was the Willys Overland Jeepster Club had
TWO Jeepsters there and both won awards.
WOW two Jeepsters in one AACA National

EVERYONES got a story by Pete Mozzone

How I came to purchase my "rst" Willys!

My dad, Lawrence McClellan
"Mac" Lindsey, served in the US
Navy from 1940 - 1946. He was
on the USS Tennessee during the
attack on Pearl Harbor. After
his discharge, he returned to
Kentucky and married my mom
(Dorothy Bryant Lindsey) in
1947. By 1950, they bought their
rst car. A 1950 yellow Willys
Jeepster. This black & white
photo is my mom standing in
front of their Jeepster.

In January 2011, my mom

moved to a new house in
Marion, Illinois. During the
move she found an old photo
and showed it to me. It was "Mom" and the 1950 Jee
pster
this photo of her standing in
front of a convertible. I asked
plenty of questions and found out all
about the Willys. I had never heard
of a Jeepster nor did I know that my
parents owned such a fun car! She
tells me their longest trip was going
from Evansville, Indiana to Kentucky
Lake for vacations. Mom says she had
plenty of fun memories and some are
better left untold!!! After seeing the
Willys photo that day for the rst time,
I knew that I would one day own one.
After searching the internet, I found
one in North Carolina. On April 17,
2011, my prized Jeepster arrived in

Marion. I have fallen in love with her
and can't wait to make my own fun
memories. I joined the Jeepster Club
and have thoroughly enjoyed reading
my rst newsletter. My mom is 80
years old now but said she felt like she
was 20 again after the rst ride in our
new Jeepster. I've attached a few pho-
tos of the day our "new" Willys arrived
and our rst ride that same day.

TECH stuff
Last months Tech Page showed the installation of an Oil Filer for a Willys 4
cyl. (L-HEAD). A request came asking about installation for an (L-6). Here
are the Tech sheets for the other three Willys engines.

2.) The 4 cyl. F/Head 4.) The 6 cyl. F/Head
How to install an oil filter as an add-on accessory was shown in the 1992
issues of the W.O.J.C. Newsletter. Each engine was shown with a how to
do it tech page.
September 2007 showed the tech page for the 4 cyl. (F-HEAD).
November 2007 showed the tech page for the 4 cyl. (L-HEAD).
December 2007 showed the tech page for the 6 cyl. (L-HEAD).
And January 2008 the final tech page for the installation of the oil filter on
the 6 cyl. (F-HEAD).
Dubbed the Hurricane Six, the 161-cid F/Head was introduced in 1952.
Had the Jeepster remained in the production line this engine would have
been made available. This new engine boosted output to 90 hp.

Inline F-head. Compression ratio: 7.6:1
Displacement: 161 cid. Brake hp: 90 at 4200rpm.
