Application for Admission

INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES

Please carefully review the information provided below prior to completing the Application for Admission.

1. The University of Cambridge A - Level examinations are taken at the conclusion of a two year course which normally
follows the O - Level examinations.

2. It is strictly prohibited that Southshore students sit for other examinations at the same time that they are enrolled at
Southshore, nor duplicate the work of an A/S Level or A - Level by taking another Board’s examination. Southshore
may grant permission for other examinations after a review of the student’s request which must be submitted well in
advance of undertaking any alternative course of study. In the event that permission is granted, this does not exempt
the student from internal examinations or attendance requirements at Southshore.

3. Candidates applying for admission should have completed a minimum of five O - Level subjects (not including Pakistan
Studies and Islamiyat) with grades of C or better. Meeting the minimum criteria is not a guarantee of admission but
serves as a guideline for applicants. The fact that a student has taken an O - Level examination in a particular subject
does not convey the right to be admitted to the A - Level course for that subject.

4. Southshore admits candidates on the basis of their academic achievements, non-academic accomplishments and
recommendations. The Admissions Committee reviews all applications and their decisions are final.
5. All Southshore students are required to take English (General). They must also take a minimum of three and maximum
of four other A - Level subjects. All subject choices are reviewed and approved by an Academic Counsellor. Subject
choices are finalized after actual O - Level results have been submitted.

6. In addition to the Application for Admission, candidates must submit the following supporting documents to complete
their Southshore application:
i) Official school transcripts for classes 9, 10 and 11
ii) Official projected O - Level grades
iii) Recommendation from the Principal of their former school
iv) Teacher recommendation(s)
v) Bill clearance from their former school
vi) Copies of certificates for academic and non-academic honours and awards (these
documents should be certified by their former school or other appropriate authority)
vii) Five colour photographs (passport size)
7. Candidates bear full responsibility for ensuring that their applications and supporting documents are complete as well
as submitted in a timely fashion.

8. Southshore requires that official O - Level results are submitted to the Admissions Office within seven days after they
have been received by the candidate. Any significant variances from the projected grades will be reviewed by the
Admissions Committee. Southshore reserves the right to withdraw an offer of admission or modify subject choices if
the student has not performed satisfactorily on their O - Level examinations.

9. Southshore students are members of a learning community that requires them to adhere to a Code of Conduct specified
by the School. Any student found in violation of this requirement will be subject to the sanctions as specified in the
Student Handbook that is given to all students who enrol at Southshore.

10. All information submitted by the student during the application process must be accurate and complete. The
Southshore School reserves the right to revoke admission or enrolment should any false, inaccurate or omitted
information be found in the student file at anytime during their enrolment in the A - Level programme.
