The Parks and Recreation Commission is regularly scheduled to meet on the first Wednesday of each month
in the community room of the Stowe Arena at 5:00 p.m.

Private Skating Lessons


We offer private skating lessons directly through our instructors. Set up a private lesson and get one on one improvement at your own
convenience. Schedule, cost, and program is set up directly with the instructor based on your skating level and time committment.

Public Skate
Offered daily at Stowe Arena with fun music and friends! For those just learning to skate, stands and skating aids are available
for children or adults. Helmets are not required but are recommended for beginning skaters. Rentals are available. Times vary

Stick Time
Provides players with an opportunity to practice stick-work, shooting and skating on open ice without the structure of an
organized game. Stick Time offers use of nets, sticks and pucks free of charge. Anyone under 18 must wear a full face mask.
Full hockey equipment including pants, elbow pads, shin pads and chest protector is highly recommended for children.

The Stowe Rec Adventure Camp is a full day summer program that features eight weeks of fun and excitement for children
5-12 years old. The program will consist of two groups, the Rascals encompassing Ages 5-8 and the Maniacs which are
Ages 8-12. Each group will feature age appropriate activities and programming. Participants will experience many
different activities such as music, sports, nature, and crafts. The camp will also feature theme weeks, field trips, special
guests, performances, and more! Participants will build lasting memories, connect with new and old friends, learn respect,
responsibility and safe choices as well as participate in exciting play every day!

This half day camp offers an opportunity to learn and enjoy many aspects of the game of soccer. Emphasis is placed on

Fishing Club - 321001


Instructor: Fly Rod Shop
Our Junior Fishing Program will teach anglers of all skill levels how to cast accurately, set up a fishing rod,
and how to target the fish using a spin cast rod. We will also jump into the ecology and conservation side
of fishing. With every class we will visit some prime fishing spots and throw a line in! The Fly Rod Shop
will provide all the fishing gear needed for this program. If you have a fishing rod feel free to bring it along
to camp with you! Bring a pair of sturdy shoes and other outdoor gear that is weather appropriate.

Young Rembrandts Club - 321011


Young Rembrandts teaches drawing, the fundamental skill of visual arts to children aged 5 to 12. Each
week children will engage in a fun, engaging themed drawing lesson using a variety of mediums. We
offer children a place to talk about art, learn drawing skills and have fun while surrounded by creativity
and encouragement. This 8-week summer camp club includes themes such as monsters, Chinese lanterns,
dinosaurs, African animals, sea life, and many more!

Golf Club - 321004


Instructor: Sue Horton
Children of all abilities will learn how to play golf with their friends through fun games and activities at Stowe
Country Club. Sue Horton, PGA Apprentice, and the instructional staff at Stowe Country Club will help teach
fundamentals of golf with lessons in chipping, putting, driving, bunkers, rules and etiquette. All equipment will be
provided! Participants are required to wear a collar shirt.

Gardening Club - 320322


Lets get our hands dirty this summer! Come dig in the dirt and learn the basics of gardening.
The students will take part in every aspect of the garden: they start seedlings, spread compost
on the soil, plant the seedlings in the ground, and water the garden. Finally, the students harvest
the fruits (and veggies & herbs) of their labor and learn how to turn them into delicious meals.

SCIENSATIONAL WORKSHOPS
Make It and Take It Home - 321008
In this hands-on, fun, and exciting program, you will discover how amazing science is. You will make and take
home a wide assortment of toys designed to teach you science concepts in a hands-on way. Grow and take home
a crystal tree. Make an energy bead bracelet and watch as those amazing beads turn from white to a rainbow of
colors before your eyes. Build a working electric motor. Make your own sharpie pen T-shirt and learn some cool
chemistry (student supplies a 100% cotton T-shirt). Make your own bubbling blobs and explore the properties of
a density tube. Make silly putty glowing goo green flubber and other cool projects. By the way...we will make
ice cream in our own amazing, different, Sciensational way!

White Light- Laser- Galaxies and Then Some - 321008


Children explore science as a fun and exciting process of investigation. Each day we conduct experiments,
discover the amazing, and test our own ideas. You will learn about LASERS. Dancing, swirling, pulsating
laser light will be part of our Laser Light Show. Work with our light blitzer as a laser light flashes to music.
We will conduct experiments with our LASER POINTER plus lenses and mirrors as we have fun and learn.
Build and take home your own kaleidoscope, spectroscope, periscope and constellation watcher. Watch the
constellations in our room and learn about all the planets as you take our 3-D Adventure into outer space!
This workshop will be a De-Light-ful hands-on experience.

Magnetic Levitation for Future Transportation - 321008


Build your own futuristic Maglev car to race and take home. In 1999 a Japanese five-car maglev train set
a record of 345 miles/hour. Yours wont go that fast, but we will have fun building it and learning how it
operates. Learn about the relationship between magnetism and electricity. You will also get to build a simple
maglev track as well as a cool electromagnet. Learn how motors work, as well as generators. Build and
take home the worlds simplest motor. Make your own compass and take part in many other magnificent
magnetic activities! Yes, Sciensational Workshops again starts with the Maglev car (magnetism - electricity -
levitation) and goes in all directions to have fun and learn while doing hands-on activities.

All aboard for lots of hands-on fun. Join in the escapades of Harry and his friends. Play quidditch. Make an

If you don't have the space to plant at home or you simply like to garden in the company of others, the
Stowe Community Garden is a wonderful spot to grow summer vegetables and flowers on your very
own 20ft x 20ft plot! Being a member of a community garden is a fun and rewarding experience, but it's
also a big commitment. We expect all members to practice organic gardening and promote a positive and
enriching environment.
