A STUDY ON THE RELEVANCE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN
COMMERCE EDUCATION

ABSTRACT
Education is a life long process, therefore anytime anywhere access to it .information
explosion is an ever increasing phenomena. Therefore, there is need to get access to this
information. Education should meet the need of learners and therefore, IT is an important in
meeting this need. We need to increase access and bring down the cost of education to meet
the challenges of literacy and poverty by the use of information technology. The role of IT in
commerce education goes far beyond the direct use of instructional devices. IT can provide a
coverage of growing knowledge base associated with the information explosion in all areas
including commerce.
INTRODUCTION
Information technology and computer networks are becoming an important part of the
life. IT and computers are widely used to expand teaching possibilities. As it can dramatically
improve the learning productivity and effectiveness of teachers, these are widely used in
education. In the rea of dynamic changes in the field of commerce, trade and industry, IT has a
pivotal role to play in the education of that discipline. In the field of commerce education,
information technology can be used for various purposes. The teacher can effectively use it as a
pedagogical devices for curriculum transaction. By using it , students can prepare assignments
and other presentation materials.
OBJECTIVES
To find out the role of IT in commerce education
To analyse the importance of computers in educational field
To analyse the satisfaction level of the teachers by the use of IT in commerce
education.
While teaching business studies, the teacher can use computer based teaching for presenting
topics like internet,e-mail, import- export orientation etc using computer, the students can be
made to communicate with each other. Students around the world wide via electronic mail and
gather data from a variety of sources for their project work, market studies etc.
IT induces scientific, economic, technology, information and multicultural literacy and global
awareness. It promote incentives thinking which induces adaptability and managing
complexibility, curiosity, creativity, and risk taking high order thinking and sound reasoning. It
develops effective communication which leads to teaming, collaboration and interpersonal
skills. Moreover, it induces personal, social and civil responsibility. It leads to high productivity
which give the ability to plan and manage results. It also give a sense of using real world tools
with the effective, relevant and high quality results.
METHODS
A systematic quantitative data is necessary to collect the needed data. The suitability of
particular methods of study lies on the purposes and scope of the study. the study deals with
the method adopted for the research, design of the study, the procedure of the study , the
tools and sample selected for collecting data and statistical data applied for analyzing the data.
Both primary and secondary data were used for the study. primary data are collected through a
questionnaire. Secondary data collected from various published, and unpublished sources,
magazine, journals, internet etc.
RESULTS
Information technology plays an important role in teaching learning process especially in
commerce education. From the study, it has been find out that 80% of the teachers are of the
opinion that IT is an important element in modern curriculum. 90% of the teachers agree that IT
helps gretly in teaching process. 60% of the teachers are of the opinion that computers assisted
instruction reduces job burden to a great extent. Almost 88% of the teachers agrees that IT
makes classroom instruction effective. 82% of the teachers says that computers assisted
instruction is effective in teaching and learning process. 80% of the respondents are satisfied
with the benefit attained through the use of IT in teaching and learning process. 72% of the
teacher agrees that smart classroom is effective for better learning of students. 84% of the
teachers are of the opinion that introduction of the topic with the help of video is effective than
the traditional model of class. 78% of the teachers agrees that internet facility is positively
approachable in teaching learning process.
CONCLUSION
Information technology has become an integral part of the learning process in the advanced
and developed countries of the world. Like all other helping material like books, films,
blackboard etc, computers can solve the teachers to communicate to students. But it is very
sophisticated monster aid and requires for understanding. The introduction of computers on
education is not a quick and easy path to follow. In this IT world, information technology plays
an important role in teaching leaning process especially in commerce education.
