My name is Jordan Maurice and I wish to apply for the position of Elementary Grade
Teacher in your school as listed on 2016 asbsd.org. In May of 2016, I will receive of
Bachelor of Science in Education and Human Sciences from South Dakota State
University with a certificate of Elementary Education (K-8) from Dakota State
University.

Fall of 2014 my first student teaching experience was at the Fishback Center under
Mrs. Jesse Foss where I taught Kindergarten. Then Spring of 2015, was first
practicum was under Mrs. Palmer fifth grade Math and Language Arts. Next Fall of
2015, was my second practicum was under Mrs. Engbrecht's seventh grade life sciences.
Currently this semester I am student teaching at Elkton School under Mr. Steve
Erickson where Im teaching Language Arts, Computers, and Social Studies to fifth
and sixth graders. When Im not student teaching I am volunteering at Brookings
County Youth Mentoring Program with a first grader. I have been working at the
Great After School Place in Brookings. This experience, gave me the opportunity to
involve myself in a non-classroom setting with children. I believe my classroom
experiences, mentoring a child, and interacting alongside children has given me the
skills to enable me to work with students and parents of all levels of abilities and
diverse backgrounds. I feel these qualifications, would help me to work well with
your staff, parents and district.

I believe that my energy, education, and experiences combine to make me a viable

candidate for your position. I have enclosed my letters of recommendation as you
have requested. My application for South Dakota teacher certification has been
filed. I look forward to completing any further application materials that your district
