1. TOPIC IDENTIFICATION PROCESS Business Innovation for

Competitiveness (BIC)

Project Brief:

As a team of consultants, you can

1) Choose an existing company/business in Vietnam, find an issue, challenge

or opportunity when facing Business Innovation for Competitiveness
(BIC), analyse it and suggest a solution to address it. Your team might
include research of their history, mission, activities, structure and current
status. The team will also identify specific opportunities for the client
organization to expand, grow and develop their operations or issues that
they need to resolve. Additionally, the team will provide recommendations
as to which strategies the client organization should pursue to take
advantage of the opportunities or solve their issues.
2) Choose an existing company/business not in Vietnam that the team feels
could work in Vietnam and research their history, mission, activities,
structure and current status. Taking advantage from Business
Innovation for Competitiveness, the team will write a proposal to
start the business in Vietnam. This proposal should provide logical
reasons with supporting evidence of why this business will be successful in
Vietnam. Additionally, the team will need to provide recommendations as
to what strategies the business would want to use to enter the market
successfully.
3) Find an existing business in Vietnam that could expand and benefit
from innovation for competitiveness. Write a proposal/plan for
expanding that business. The proposal/plan will be given to potential
investors so it must provide background information about the business
and clear direction on how the business can be expanded taking
advantages from Business Innovation for Competitiveness. The team
will also provide specific recommendations for the new business operation
to achieve in its first year of existence.

At a minimum your team should:

Conduct in-depth research into your chosen company/business

Conduct in-depth research into the contextual environment as well as
internal organizational capabilities toward Business Innovation for
Competitiveness.
Analyse key challenges to the Industry by scanning the business
environment and forecasts. What are some key issues facing your client
organization in the next few years?
Identify the viable opportunities to your client company, prioritise and
justify the key areas of their operations that they should be focusing on.

1. Research issues and terms surrounding your focus research area what
are the key aspects? Are there any obstacles internal/external that are
affecting them?

2. Survey Vietnams Industries the ones interested you. You could look at
general areas (i.e. food, health, tourism, education, manufacturing,
export/import etc.), then scope down to a business within that area

3. Current Social environment in Vietnam? Future trends/economic forecast

to look out for? Obstacles? Look at country reports/ doing business in
Vietnam/ forecasts/ articles about social problems/issues

Compile and/or create a concept map of the issues facing your
chosen company (focus on problems)
