Preface

When I approached NERE Press with the idea of runnin this lilnotebook Id made outta

an old issue of Vogue, I was more interested in pushin some limit here or there

I wanted to play with text.

What we came up with is, Selected Caca & Bits of Tissue, number one in the

Mens Spoon Magazine Series. Collected here are ten short songs written over past

years.

I grew up with a buncha musicians. No matter where we were, impromptu sets

eventually prevailed. Silliness. Sadness. Hearts. Daggers.

This text is for those guys, endless muse.

Id also like to thank Spritney Beers and Mini-Super, who have both included my songs

on their albums. The songs contained here have not been commissioned, except

GBGB, which SB plans to release on their upcoming album, Got Crap?

The publisher brought to my attention the question floatin round: Why have I populated

the pages with images of sexy women? I [dont] know,

its only rocknroll,

and I like it. yes I do.

To tell the truth, the text is very nearly a concept album. Not necessary a wieldy,

fashion magazine filled with drawings and notes over and around provocative imagery,

but its necessarily possible that composing the notebook created the sensibility with

which Ive approached songwriting over the years. So, while NERE said No to Vogue,

the publisher did allow me to pull some stops so, fuck it. Heres my songbook.

Its a girly magazine,

without a centerfold.
