LOCAL DINING
NATIONAL CROQUET CENTER
700 Florida Mango Rd. West Palm Beach, Florida
(561) 478-2300

BY LENORE VELCOFF

At the suggestion of Joy Vestal, I

took my son and his partner to lunch
at the restaurant at this delightful
spot. The setting is lovely both inside
the restaurant and on the large porch
where you can view the green lawns
with people playing croquet. The
inside of the building is very "Tommy
Bahama" in style, which I love.
The buffet is not extensive but
is ample and very reasonable at
$12.95 including soft drinks or iced
tea and hot coffee. We ate a nice
chicken vegetable soup, green salad,
curried chicken salad, tuna salad,
egg salad, sliced turkey, cheese, and
ham, roasted root vegetables, beef
in roasted red pepper sauce and
pineapple chicken. Dessert was small
pastries, cookies, and brownies.
This is the best kept secret in West
Palm Beach. The food was delicious
and the setting exceptional. They
have a separate bar area but weather
permitting, check it out for lunch
only. You wont be disappointed.
