21. Some people believe laws change human behaviour. Do you agree with it?
Laws are made by the government to ensure peace and harmony among people. But as it is
said rules are meant to be broken .
Firstly , wearing helmets by bicycle and two wheeler riders is made compulsory by the
government . This rule is made so that if they meet with an accident their heads are protected.
Similarly , wearing a seatbelt while driving is also mandatory . For long these rules existed
but not followed always . In recent times when fines were introduced for breaking these
laws , we now see everybody obediently following the same rules.
Secondly , punishments like imprisonment , life sentence , death sentence etc are made so
that it acts as a deterrent for not indulging in illegal activities . Hence , people due to fear of
these punishments abstain from activities that may disturb the laws in a society. In the
absence of these punishments people would have done anything they desire at the cost of the
peace of the people around them .
Thirdly , rules are made for appropriate vehicle parking . Especially in and around shopping
centres and theatres where there is a crowd of people visiting the place, wrong parking can
result in a chaotic situation causing a traffic of vehicles on the road . But since fines are
applied to wrong parking , drivers see to that they park their vehicles in parking areas only.
To conclude , I strongly believe law changes human behavior . They are needed for the
smooth running and functioning of the country .

37. Education is the biggest barrier in my learning - Einstein. What do you mean by this?
And do you think Einstein was correct in saying that.
To begin with, education grooms an individual into a desirable person. It gives a person the
knowledge to differentiate between the good and bad. It promotes logical thinking and
planning which is a need of todays competitive world. Most importantly, it makes an
individual with degrees marketable and opens avenues of employment. Hence, to get the
desired job, one needs to be educated.
Nevertheless, education can be a barrier in the life of many. It has become so competent that
children study for hours after school and hence do not get time to play or learn other
activities. Due to lack of time to play they do not learn social skills like making friends, team
spirit, sharing. Singing ,dancing and painting are activities that help an individual develop
confidence, overcome stage fear, cognitive skills etc that education does not teach them.
Secondly, education teaches a person to think in a particular frame. He loses his problem
solving capacity as he follows the rules and concepts taught to him. Furthermore, many
people feel dissatisfied with their work. For example, engineers who are interested in
painting, are not able to pursue it as a career due to lack of time in developing the skills as
todays education permits no leisure time.
To conclude, I agree with the statement made by Einstein- Education is the biggest barrier in
my learning. The government today should improvise the educational system so that children
can make complete utilization of their skills and develop new skills.

35. In under developed countries, tourism has disadvantages and can be said the opposite
as well.
Tourism for any country is a good source of income. But countries which are not well
developed , may face problems due tourists too.
Firstly with the rise in the number of tourists visiting a country , the infrastructure of the
country develops . The transportation facilities are developed so that the tourist attraction
spots are easily accessible . Hotels , lodges , shops and supermarkets are also built in these
locations so that all the needs of stay and food are available to the visitors. Secondly , it helps
open new avenues of income to the local people. They get jobs in the hotels and shops and
hence helps the people earn their daily bread and butter.
Nevertheless , there are disadvantages to it too , especially to the under developed nations.
For example , the tourists throw waste and rubbish around resulting in environmental
pollution . There are increased chances of crimes in such locations as some local people try to
steal foreign items from the visitors while some may fool them into buying things which are
not worth the price . The local flora and fauna of the places is disturbed as jungles and forests
are destroyed to build buildings and transportation.
Opinion - Overpackaging
7. These days companies are selling their products by extra packing to attract the buyers.
However, I am unconvinced and feel that the consumers should avoid purchasing such products
as it is a waste of money and resources.
Firstly, over packing of the goods increases its maximum retail price.Hence, although the
company is spending on the packing,it is the consumer who ls at loss as the company sells the
product at a higher price than needed and recovers the money spent on its packing. It is the
consumers who should realise this and avoid buying such items.
Secondly, people these days buy food products that can be consumed on the run. The plastic
and paper that is used to wrap these goods are then thrown around the place resulting in
environmental pollution .
On the other hand fast food franchisee use various attractive ways to pack their products which
then lure the kids in buying them.Children form the major proportion of the consumers of these
unhealthy foods. As a result of the consumption of these processed foods there is a rise in the
number of children suffering from obesity, diabetes etc.
To conclude, I believe it is the responsibility of the consumers to refuse products that are
overpacked as ultimately they are on the losing side.

6. Successful sports stars and glamorous film stars are a role model for youngsters. Do u
support it or not? (Agree/Disagree)
Todays generation is highly influenced by celebrities in sports and movies. They think of
them as their idol. I think it has its pros and cons.
To begin with, following sportsmen motivates the youth to take part in sports. This is good
for the individuals growth as a person physically as well as mentally. For example sports
involving teams help to develop social skills, sharing and communicative skills . It is also a
good way of exercise for their body. The individuals interested in movies and cinema tend to
take part in stage acts , skits and drama. This helps them lose stage fear and fear of facing
public. It develops their confidence.
Nevertheless, although there are benefits there are dire consequences to it too. Many of the
sports and movie stars endorse in cigarette and alcohol brands. Adverts of these brands are
displayed on media which are perceived by the youth as something positive and desirable.
Hence, they too indulge in smoking and drinking. There are individuals who are adamant in
achieving a similar profession as that of their role models and hence drop out of schools and
colleges. This results in the rise in uneducated future citizens of the country. Some
individuals who fail in achieving their goals try to commit suicide.
To conclude, I believe that the youth should be smart enough to select their role models. I
dont think that sports and actors prove to be good role models as they have more of a
negative influence on young than positive.

17. Do you think that place where the person grew has an influence on his
accomplishments? Explain with example.
Place and environment in which a person grows plays a vital role in his life. This essay will
examine the impact of place where an individual grows on his achievements.
To begin with, rural or remote areas lack the facilities available to people living in cities and
towns. For example, there is no electricity, water, libraries, medical infrastructure and
educational institutes in villages. Due to the lack of these basic facilities, people living in
these places face many difficulties in life. Although many have the desire to study, they feel
handicapped as they do not have access to good schools and colleges around them. Very often
they are poor and cannot afford moving to cities where they can pursue education. Due to the
shortage of medical facilities, people suffer from diseases like tuberculosis, chikungunya,
malaria etc. This has resulted in many untimely deaths and malnourishment cases.
To the contrary, cosmopolitan and metropolitan cities are well developed. They have the best
facilities of health, education, housing, transport, electricity and water supply. This gives
people living in cities, better opportunities to pursue their desires. Children who wish to study
can complete their education in the best institutions. This helps them get jobs in various
sectors of employment. Ultimately, they are capable of achieving greater things in life than
the people in rural areas.
To conclude, I believe that the place in which an individual grew has an influence on his
achievements. Therefore government should develop the infrastructure in the backward areas
so that the country can make complete use of its resources and progress.

Opinion - Sports as hobby
16.Dangerous activities like extreme skiing, bungee jumping etc. and whether u support them
or not
Many people like to take part in adventurous sports like extreme skiing , bunjee jumping ,
paragliding and many others. Although these seem to be exciting , they can be dangerous.
Todays world has become very competitive and everybody is working hard to earn their
daily bread and butter. This has made life monotonous and many people are suffering from
boredom . Dangerous sports gives people a feeling of excitement and adrenaline rush . This
helps them to become refreshed and relieve work related stress . Furthermore , these kind of
sports require the player to overcome certain hurdles which are similar to those faced by
individuals in their daily life. Hence , they believe it helps them solve the problems in life.
Nevertheless , how much ever fun they might seem to be , there are dangers associated with
them too. Many a times these sports are life threatening and precautions need to be taken.
One should make sure that he or she undergoes the necessary training before performing the
sport. The trainer should be educated in that field and should be certified for the same. People
medically unfit for such activities should avoid them as it may have dire consequences.
To conclude , I believe people should participate in dangerous sports as a hobby , but not at
the cost of ones life. If all the necessary precautions are taken these sports can be a good
source of entertainment and refreshment .

14. Marketing strategy for big companies should be placed on offer and discounts, and in
what ways this can impact on their reputation
With globalization and rise of industries , the competition to be the best and on the top of the
market has also increased . Companies use various methods and strategies to compete with
each other. One of these measures is placing offers and discounts on their products. This
essay will discuss the influence of this strategy on its reputation.
To begin with , discounts and offers placed on the products increase its sales . Many a times
people buy products which are not required only because there is a discount on it. This helps
the company to make the consumers aware of their product in the market. When a product is
newly introduced in the market , a low price is quoted , so that the buyers give it a
preference over the other known items . Once , the buyers are familiar with the product and
the sales increase , the discounts are taken off. This is a very lucrative method used by the
companies today.
Nevertheless , sometimes these strategies fail. Many times people doubt the quality of the
products with offers . They think that the materials used to make those items are cheap and
low quality and hence do not buy it although they are available at a very low cost than the
other similar products. Furthermore , people buy these items only till the offers exist and
once the actual price is quoted , they think it is highly priced and hence avoid buying it .
Some consumers have a liking towards a particular company products and do not buy items
from other companies . This results in loss to those industries which are selling their
products with offers and discounts.
To conclude , although offers and discounts increase the sales of the products , companies
should also think of its reputation. They should also develop other strategies to attract
consumers.

12. It is argued that getting married before finishing school or getting a job is not a good
choice. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Government of all the countries around the world have fixed an age above which both males
and females can get married. Age of an individual plays a crucial role in marriages. In many
societies children are got married during childhood or even before they start earning. I
strongly disagree to this practice.
To begin with , marriage is a huge responsibility and one should be prepared for all the
challenges associated with it. Children going to school are not physically , mentally and
emotionally fit to face the difficulties of this relationship . The body of adolescent kids is not
prepared for physical intimacy which is an inevitable part of a marriage. This results in early
age pregnancies which is life threatening for the mother as well as the child. This early age
marriages has resulted in the rise of premature delivery , still births , death of young mothers
during delivery and anaemic mother and child. If this continues of the nation would be dark.
Secondly , there are a lot of financial problems faced by individuals who marry without
having a secured job. This has lead to poor living quality of the individuals. They are are
unable to take care of their families which causes depression and frustration. Lack of money
and market inflation has lead these people into taking illegal measures and hence destroy
peace and harmony in the society.
To conclude, I believe that education and financial security makes an individual truly eligible
for marriage. These two factors are a necessity to live a healthy and desirable life.

10. Talk about the pros/ cons of this era as is full of daily inventions
The world that we live in today is full of daily inventions. With globalization and
development inventing and discovering new things have become imperative. This essay will
discuss the advantages and disadvantages of these inventions.
To begin with, these inventions have made our lives better and convenient. For example, the
android and smartphones that we use today are beneficial to everybody. The applications like
whatsapp, facebook, emails etc. help us keep in touch with our friends and relatives. Storing
pictures and data has also become easy and accessible any where we desire. Invention of
LED lights help us save electricity and monthly expenditure on the same. Laptops can be
carried around and used where ever we wish. Flatscreen television sets have helped to save
space and give better picture quality than the older box televison sets.
Nevertheless, inventions on a daily basis has kept everybody on their toes to keep themselves
updated and learning about them. For example although smartphones are very convenient the
older generation finds it difficult to operate and with new updates everyday they are reluctant
to learn new things. Continuous usage of cellphones and laptops specially by the young
generation and working people, problems like backache ,
neckpain, blurring of vision and dryness of eyes is on the rise. With the invention of LED
lights and flatscreen television , disposing off the older tubelights, bulbs and box television
set has become a problem as improper disposal may result in health hazards.
To conclude, although life has become convenient and easy with the use of new gadgets and
appliances , they do not outweigh its disadvantages.

9. Large shopping malls are replacing small shops. What is your opinion about this? Discuss
with appropriate examples.
Shopping is an activity of everybodys daily life. Be it groceries, clothings, or home products
everyone of us visits shops. With the changing lifestyles , many people prefer shopping in
large malls than in small shops.
There are numerous advantages of large shopping malls. Firstly ,there are numerous shops
and brands present under one roof. Hence, people can buy what ever they like at one stop.
This is very convenient for those who are working as it saves a lot of their time. Secondly,
there are built in parking spaces and thus people need not park their vehicles at a distance and
walk to these shops.
Nevertheless, there are disadvantages of these malls too. Many people are tempted to buy
things that are not required and hence increase their monthly expenditure. There are many
fast food centres which lure children into eating unhealthy food. On holidays and weekends a
lot of people visit malls due to which parking spaces are full. This results in parking of
vehicles on roads or in front of other shops and houses resulting in traffic and disturbance to
shop keepers as well as nearby residents. Local shopkeepers who earrn their daily bread and
butter face a hard time as only a few customers buy products from their shops. This affects
the local economy.
To conclude, there are benefits of having large shopping malls, but they do not outweigh the
disadvantages and therefore I believe that large shopping malls should not replace small
shops.

Firstly , Written tests are held in practically all the educational institutes around the world.
The marks attained in these exams prove the students intelligence. The questions asked in
these tests are based on what is taught in class. This helps the teacher to know the grasping
skills, knowledge, memory and the writing skills of the students. Furthermore, the teacher
also knows the students who are weak in studies and thus can give extra attention to them.
Remedial classes can also be held for these children.
Secondly, many parents help their children in assignments and homework that is given by the
teachers to be completed at home. Children who find difficulties in answering the questions
either take help from parents or copy it from their classmates. This doesnt help them in
learning the subject.
To conclude, Written formal examinations are by far the best way to help the students, parents
and teachers to know the students shortcomings and hence help them improve in the same.
Hence, I am convinced that written examinations should be held in institutions until a better
method to evaluate the students intelligence and learning skills is discovered.
