A holistic view means that we are interested in engaging and developing the whole
person. You can think of this as different levels, physical, emotional, mental and
spiritual. It's the concept that the human being is multi-dimensional. We have

Spiritual approach
Research has repeatedly demonstrated that spirituality can have a positive effect on
recovery from many diseases and disorders. It is unknown the precise source of this
effect. Whether recovery does indeed originate because of a "power greater than
ourselves" (aka, God), or whether it is due to the psychological benefit of hope that
such a belief instills, the fact remains that many people's health is benefitted by
their spiritual beliefs and practices. As God and related concepts do not lend
themselves to scientific research, we are in no position to comment upon the
reasons for this effect. What we can say is that research has indicated that a
spiritual faith or practice can be beneficial in the recovery from many diseases and
disorders.
Addiction recovery programmes like Alcoholics Anonymous emphasise a
'spiritual approach' to recovery from addiction.
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) was founded in the 1930s, and its 12-step
programme encourages members to turn to God or a Higher Power for help in
overcoming addiction. Whilst the group does not keep official membership
lists, it estimates that there are currently 99,020 groups in operation across
the world, with a total membership of 1,995,804.

therapeutic community approach

As members of Portages therapeutic community, clients share their daily lives with
a group of people who are experiencing similar struggles, helping each other to
identify the causes of their problems, develop the social competencies that will help
them face these issues, and carry out the necessary strategies to overcome them.
In a positive peer culture environment, our clients support each others growth.
They learn from each other, from their counsellors, and most importantly, from
themselves.
At Portage, respect is the basis of all interventions. Portages therapeutic
community approach works from a wellness rather than an illness model, and seeks
to empower clients with tools and confidence to give them a reason to hope again
hope that they can choose to lead their lives the way they want to, hope that they
can choose to be who they really are meant to be, free from the grasp of addiction.

The Minnesota Model approach is typically characterized by a thorough

and ongoing assessment of all aspects of the client and of multimodal
therapeutic approaches. It may include group and individual therapy,
family education and support, and other methods. A multidisciplinary
team of professionals (e.g., counselors, psychologists, nurses) plan and
assist in the treatment process for each client. Each member of the team
meets individually with the client to conduct an interview, review the
client's test results, and review the questionnaire that the client
completes. After the client is seen by each team member, the team meets
without the client to discuss the findings and form a treatment plan that
includes individualized goals and objectives. The assumption is that
abstinence is the prerequisite. Treatment provides tools and a context for
the client to learn new ways of living without alcohol and other drugs. This
type of treatment can be employed on an inpatient or outpatient basis.
The philosophy of the Minnesota Model is based on Alcoholics Anonymous
(AA).

Multidisciplinary Individual Therapy

During individual therapy in an effective multidisciplinary rehab center, clients can discuss
everything and anything that they are thinking about. Its the time when the individual can
embrace the exploration of issues and individual development with a primary therapist.

Importance of substance abuse therapy in long term recovery

For people in treatment to continue recovery once they have been discharged, addiction rehab is
mandatory. Its a therapeutic technique that offers behavioral enhancement, healthy activities,
education and support. This in turn assists people in recovery to learn how they can efficiently
handle addiction triggers.

Long-term recovery can only be a success if the affected individuals focus on self-improvement
and learn healthy habits. Relying on a professional drug rehab facility such as Chiron Recovery
Center is the only effective method for overcoming your addiction. Let us help you get started on
the road to a successful recovery.
