Career Goal

To obtain a position in a school media center where I can provide students


with personal growth in reading for pleasure while at the same time
collaborate with teachers to develop information literacy skills. My goal is to
have an environment that is developed for the 21st Century Learner to
explore critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration among peers
while maintaining the freedom to grow as an individual.

2004-2013 Wal-Mart

Assistant Manager: Operations

Assisted the Store Manager in operating the store which


generated $58 million in sales annually.
Managed up to seventy five associates in order to operate
the daily functions of the business operations.
Managed the Human Resources department and did the
following on a daily basis: Conducted interviews,
conducted evaluations, conducted coaching for
improvements, and conducted the termination process of
twelve job codes.
Managed the Accounting department which balanced the
daily sales to the physical money. I also verified paperwork
to identify any discrepancies that could be a potential
ethical issue, training issue, or a loss of assets for the
store.
Managed the Invoice/Receiving departments which
involved the storewide inventory process from entrance
into the building to the exit through sales.
Managed the Cashiers and frontend operations to ensure
inventory exited the building through controlled systems.
Managed the Customer Money Center to ensure that all
legal compliances were met and maintained when dealing
with money and returns.
Managed the Claims department that ensured safety
compliance of hazardous materials were shipped or
disposed of properly.

Assistant Manager: Hardlines, Softlines, Overnight, Consumables,


Grocery, Fresh, and Homelines

Managed the different retail inventory merchandising for


each of these areas by managing department managers
and sales floor staff.
Each area I spent a minimum of six months learning the
different dynamics until promoted to the next area.
