From the bottom of my heart I am also thankful to all my family, friends and
all those who have incidentally helped me, through their valued guidance, co-
operation and unstinted support during the course of my project.
Unit Linked Insurance Plans (ULIPs) was first introduced in the 1960s and became very popular
in Western Europe and America. Birla sun life, the first private insurer in India to launch a unit
linked plan (in 2001) with the advent of the private insurance companies and increased
competition, a lot has happened in terms of product innovation and aggressive marketing of the
same. The reason that is attributed to the wide spread popularity of ULIPs is because of the
transparency and the flexibility which it offers.
The main objective of the project is to bring out major difference between ULIPS and
MUTUAL FUNDS.
In order to make right investment decision for maximization of returns and minimization of
risk.
Comparison of ULIPs. And Mutual Fund.
The objective also includes explain the basic features and types of mutual funds as well as
features of ulips.
Finally of my study on ULIPs I conclude that in ULIPs there is so many Advantages like TAX
BENIFIT: Short term gains in mutual funds are taxable during the first year, where there is no
tax on ulips, ULIPs basically work like a mutual fund with a life insurance cover thrown in. they
invest the premiums in market linked instruments like stocks, corporate bonds and government
securities.
