1.04 SUBMITTALS

A. Product Data: Submit manufacturer's specifications and installation instructions for each
material and component part. Include methods of installation for each type of substrate to
receive units.
B. Shop Drawings: Submit Shop Drawings for panel units. Show anchors, accessories, and
installation details with elevations of each wall after panels are installed.
2
C. Samples: Submit 3 samples 300 mm of each color of fabric required. The Engineer's
review of samples will be for color, pattern, and texture only. Submit one 300 mm2 sample
of substrate material including edge condition with fabric.
D. Test Reports: Submit certified copies of test reports from an independent accredited
acoustical testing laboratory showing compliance with the standards and requirements
listed below.

1.05 PRODUCT HANDLING

A. Crate and pack all units as required to prevent damage or staining in transit to or storage
and handling at the site. Time delivery to site ensure uninterrupted progress of the work.
Store all materials to provide easy access for inspection and identification. Inspect panels
upon delivery. Notify the Engineer of any damaged or stained units. Procure replacements
immediately so as not to disrupt schedule.

1.06 PROJECT/SITE CONDITIONS

A. Do not install work until space has been enclosed and is nominally dry, work above ceilings
is completed, and until ambient conditions of temperature and humidity will be continuously
maintained at values near those indicated for final occupancy.

1.07 WARRANTY

A. Provide a warranty for a period of five (5) years form the date of substantial completion,
against any defect in quality of workmanship and material. Any failure in that shall be

expense.

2.02 PANEL CONSTRUCTION

A. Panel Construction: Shall consist of a one-piece layer of rigid insulation board with a rigid
framing system that provides a dimensionally stable panel. The construction shall be

mm for butt joint application or reveal wall mounting. Finished thickness as shown in the
finish schedule or shown on the Drawings. Corners shall be perpendicular except where
noted on the Drawings or as directed by the Engineer. Panel framing shall consist of one
of the following:
1. Chemically treat all edges of the acoustical material to full panel thickness and to a
depth of 3.2 mm to resist damage and to form an integral framing system; all
edges must have a minimum Barol hardness of 35.
2. An extruded aluminum frame with minimum 1.6 mm wall thickness. Corners shall
be mitered and welded of secured with corner clips.
3. A wood frame with corners mitered and secured with screws. Use gusset plates
as required. Fire retardant treated wood shall be used as required to pass ASTM
E84 for Class A.
B. Cutouts: Provide in panels for flush plates, receptacles, outlets, switches, thermostats,
clocks, lights and similar items occurring in the wall behind panels. Acoustical Panel
Subcontractor shall be responsible for the coordination with other trades for these
openings. If there is conflict between a prefabricated panel opening and an installed
device, the condition shall be corrected at no cost to the Owner.

2.03 MOUNTING HARDWARE

A. Mounting hardware shall be concealed type, provided by the panel manufacturer. Panels
shall have appropriate hardware to securely attach all edges and corners to the wall and to
prevent the center portions of the panel from deflecting more than 13 mm in any 3.5 m
plane. All panels shall be individually removable unless otherwise specified.
B. Mount panels as indicated with specified air space, filler panels, and fiberglass fill backing
as indicated or required and shown in approved submittals. Provide furring strips, blocking,
leveling angles, etc. as required to provide a complete and finished system. Where panel
ends are exposed, panel shall be constructed to conceal mounting hardware.

2.04 APPEARANCE

A. Fabric will be selected by the Engineer from the acoustical panel manufacturer's standard
finishes for the selected panel type. The finish shall be of the same type as that used for
the approved sound absorption test. Color will be as selected by the Engineer. Finished
appearance shall be absolutely flat with finish tight and free from sags and wrinkles.

B. Finish may be returned onto the back side of the panel. Panel edge construction must not
be visible through the finish. Stretch woof and warp yarns square and plumb. Finish
corner even and true to line on face and sides with no sags or wrinkles. Corners shall be
finished to prevent unraveling, tearing or other visible defects. Provide only minimum
amount of adhesive to adhere fabric to the acoustic core. The adhesive must NOT reduce
the acoustical panel sound absorption.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.01 INSPECTION

A. Install panels in locations as shown on the Drawings and in accordance with the
manufacturer's written instructions. Install units plumb and level in accordance with the
manufacturer's printed instructions and Shop Drawings. No exposed fastening devices will
be permitted. Cutouts or changes of panel dimensions as required may be factory
performed or field cut in accordance with manufacturer's written directions.
