RESEARCH
What did you discover about monograms while
doing the visual research?
That people have creative mindset to create an nice
imagery from two or more letters, but yet still make it
readable and understandable. It is impressive how they
can do literally make art from letters.
How did comparing different monograms help you?
Well it help me grab a style that I am more towards
and to distrinquish what is better to use in different
situations, such as one for a newspaper company and
one for a candy store company.

communicate with your monogram?
Some part of my initials (because that is the object of this
design and if they cant figure it out, my design did not work).

From my sketching process I went through a hard
series of pause and seeing what could possibly work.

different things. The first and obviously way is if they

dress and how my look gives off an impression of
what company or work I belong to. Then, it would be
the products or items that I am supplied with on or
belonging to me. I guess after that, if they didnt catch
a clue by the previous things, I can offer them my
business card to inform them of my career and title.

STATIONERY FINAL
What part of your stationery system do you think is
the most successful? Why?
I believe my business card is the most successful within
my stationery system because of how it may look like a
fun, but bold looking business card to Americans, it is
actually styled after a Japanese card game, and gives
different feel to the Japanese culture.
What principle of design did you use the most in the
creation of your stationery system? Describe how did
you used it?
The principles of design that I used mostly in the creation
of my stationery system has got to be proximity, with an
emphasis on white space, and contrast, with an emphasis
on color. So, I know I dont really like super simple things
so I always have to tweak them and if something has
too much white space, I feel like I have to rearrange and
occupy them until they looked not too empty and not
too crowded either.
On color contrast, I used red to pop out of the green
and blue colors, and then used black on my business
card to support the darkness of the red and then letting
the white be the main contrast of the card. Red is truly a
heavy color and is top over white nicely.

What challenges did you face getting your stationery
design into the mock up template?
Challenges that I felt like I had trying to get my design
into the mock up template, was first, actually trying to
find a way to insert my illustrator files in. I couldnt find
a way to replace current file with my own so, I overwrote
them and save them as is. There was also the issue of
displaying the information of envelope, so I had to switch
the between the two envelopes sides to see which one
would show more information.

the future?
I believe this style wouldnt get old or tiring too fast and

What advice would you give yourself if you were
doing this assignment again?
The advice I would give myself would most definitely
would be make you sure you are doing it for yourself and
not for the ideals of the world. Dont do corporal things if
you dont like doing so. Push yourself, use your creativity.

you already know how to use them or did you have
